Are the Poses for any of the Generations the Same?

FauvistFauvist Posts: 2,219

I mean, can you use the poses for a particular figure on another generation, without converting it?  Like, can Genesis 2 Female poses be used on G3F or G8F?  Or can Michael 4 poses be used on Genesis, or Genesis 2?

Or do the poses for every generation have to be converted to use them on another generation?

Thanks!

nope, not the same, some worse than others. If you use poses as starting points like many do, it's not as much of an issue since you can then refine it and then save for  future use.

  • There are converters in the store to move poses between generations.

The most compatible would be Genesis 3 and Genesis 8. You just have to reposition the arms/legs because Genesis 8 has a different starting point (not the T pose of the past). There are scripts to get around that.

M4/V4 / Genesis / Genesis 2 F/M / Genesis 3 F/M poses and animations all work on the each of them except the G3F/M & G2F/M the part of the poses that involve the hands will not work if what I read, except the animations won't work on Genesis 3 F/M.

And the hands are a major hassle. I wonder if there is a pose converter just for the hands.

The poses will need adjusting.  Sometimes a lot of adjusting.  Converters primarily make the adjusting easier (and most also take care of the saving, unless it's one of the simple freebie scripts for adjusting between G3 and G8 - by the way, it's a 6 degree adjustment on the legs, and a 45 degree adjustment on the shoulders.)

Since I generally have to adjust the pose anyway (using different morphs, or mixing poses, or just using them as a base) I don't worry about it over much.

There are different converters as well as free tools available to convert old poses so they work with newer figures.

For V4 to G1 to G2, and back, the poses can be used throughout the three generations, except for feet and hands. there's a smart little pose helper that you can use, thogh: https://www.daz3d.com/handy-dandy

FWIW, I got a batch of the pose converters from Zev0 in a big sale offer during March Madness. Easy to use, fast, and they drop the converted folders of poses into the new figure's Content Library folder so they're easily found. The only thing I'm not sure of (because I don't use Smart Content) is whether the new poses have their compatibility reset so Smart Content can now see them as for the new figure, or maybe that has to be done manually.
