Facially, V4 more versatile than Genesis characters

facially, i think V4 morphs better than G3/8 ... The limits seem too tight on G3-G8 ... and it only takes a little adjust to blow them out all over the place, creating so,e terrible gaps, craigs, and just fugly characters.
Overall not liking them for tweaking all that much.

I'd be surprised if many people who have used Genesis 3/8 for any time would agree with you. I don't particularly find Genesis 8's expressions a big improvement over 3's, but I've had a much easier time making more exaggerated and powerful expressions with Genesis 3 than I ever did with V4.
or is it more DS vs. Poser?
I used both since their creation, and being around for the many forum wars, I can say that probably has a lot to do with it. People will defend what they use, often even when their arguments don't always hold water.
It depends, to get some things like wrinkles & expressions to look realistic and not like some boxtoxed face then I have to change the limits for quite a few face morphs & expressions to 500% And they do OK but I had to dial some back because they did unaturally distort but they really don't match the face's geometry because they were created with the G8 bases geometry in mind but they are still useful. With the way DAZ models & Facegen work now they only really good for morphing young mostly expressionless faces realistically. Older faces, one is going to have to learn to 3D sculpt the wrinkles & expressions to match the face's geometry.
If you are not trying to get a specific likeness though I find that Ollie 8 & Edie 8 are really good for wrinkles.

The title of this thread says "more versatile than Genesis Characters"
However the body of the post makes a comparision between a figure with nearly twelve years of patches ,Magnets re-weighting and content support....
and the versions of genesis than have only been out for less than four years. G 3/8
What say we compare V4 to her immediate successors
Genesis 1 and Genesis 2??
You will find there is NO comparison because with the GENX 2 plugin I have access to every face&body morph ever created for V4, plus HD
not to mention her entire catalogue of clothing and skins
now add to that every morph created for G1/G2
and not just the young, Ideal BMI white girls, but the many Alien& creature morphs from Hellfish Studios and others.
V4 is a vestigial relic of a bygone era in Figure tech.
IMHO the only reason to cling to the delusional notion that such a figure is superior, is if one is using a certain
"Figure design and animation "program that does not support modern day standards.
Sometimes I wonder: Since V4 has significantly higher poly count, it inherently has a higher potential for more versitile/detailed/complex/better expressions.
Personally, I haven't seen evidence of this. I like G3 expressions. However I've wondered at the science behind it.
I'm not talking so much expressions as face morphing ..head shapes, etc...so for instance, if you have 3 characters and you try to blend them, there is not much play brefore things start blowing out.
A lot of the morphs have tight limitations ... things barely change even when set to extremes allowed.
I could get much more interesting faces from V4 without blowing the neitre mesh apart or squeezing it until it collapses on itself.
maybe it is that V4 is higher resolution. I have not seen comparisons of the different figures .. V4, g , g1 etc
i think i figured out the issue..turning off those limits ... GONE the limits.... thid esd still cooking so not crispy yet

well if we use HD morphs yes Genesis 3 and 8 wins hands down
and there is the user facing ability to use all those facial bones
on mesh alone one is arguably as good as the other
if one could apply HD morphs to V4 all bets are off
