Corrected that for you.
LOL, I didn't see the difference there at first. :D
Why not 20% as promised ($200.01 = 15% + 5% = 20%)? Should it be $160 + qualifying item?
You multiply percentages, not add them.
Because it's not what was promised. When you have "an additional x% off" you take those out of the discounted price, not the full price, so the global discount is lower.
I wish they offered that gift card yesterday before I spent a bunch in the Victoria sale...
Wait a minute, the "Final Sale" is still up, so if I had waited till today, I could have purchased a gift card and saved 15%! This really is false advertising!
I guess it wouldn't matter that much if it is 1% less (19% instead of 20%). There was a time when there was no qualifying item required.
I bought a $200 gift card and later realized if I had spent one cent more I would have saved 5% more. I though it was $200 and up NOT over $200. I feel so stupid.
You can try and contact CS and tell them you want to add one cent or more to your purchased GC in order to take advantage of the 5% additional. Who knows? At least you tried.
Corrected that for you, because that's not a global rule but a business choice. And even DAZ managed to do it the other way already.
No, it's the correct way to do it according to maths. If you have a sales tax, such as VAT, you wouldn't expect, or want, that to be calculated on the base price rather than the discounted price. Adding two discounts is done in the same as a discount and a charge.
The Mely 3D discounts for yesterday's sale are working now.
Maths is not the key factor in sales blurb - language is.
The blurb says:
"Get an ADDITIONAL 5% off* any gift card discount above..."
It's not an additional 5% off the gift card; it's clearly and unambiguously described as an additional 5% off the discount. The sales language correctly describes what is happening in the cart.
DAZ occasionally gets the wording wrong in sales promotions. This is not one of those occasions.
I agree. Weekend ends on midnight sunday. I spent almost $200 on the V sale yesterday because I thought it was the last day.
No, that is tax regulations. And as I wrote, DAZ already did it different once, when they added a 20% reduction to an already existing 40% (or so) for a total of 60%. And they used the exact same wording for that deal. "Get an extra 20% off" - so it's not maths or taxes, but interpretion of words and marketing.
It's like a washing soap company offering "get 20% soap free when buying our product". Those 20% aren't really "free" - you just get a bit more soap for the normal price. You can't have the "free soap" without the non-free one, so it's not really "free". Still a certain part of the consumer's brain is triggered by the word "free" which enhances the wish to buy that product.
Simple marketing 101.
So, Teen Kaylee is out today. And we have a BUNCH of bundles to choose from, not just pro bundles. Again, I appreciate this as I already have most of the pro bundles I want thanks to previous sales.
Just an observation on the sales page. White text on an almost white background = not the best idea. I'm specifically looking at the addons section of the sales page, but other parts are a bit hard to read too depending on where the scroll is falling on the background. It's kind of hard to read the sale prices.
As Peter already explained- it said "off the existing DISCOUNT." I don't doubt you may have gotten a higher discount on another sale that was worded the same way, but if you did, you benefitted from a glitch. Happens all the time, thank goodness. However, this sale is working as stated, and it is correct.
Today it says: "get an extra 10% / 20% off the Pro Bundle when you buy" - the "Pro bundle", not "the discounted Pro Bundle". Still those 10% or 20% are taken from the discounted price. So for me that's "working as intended by DAZ" but not "working as advertised" and it has nothing to do with mathematics. Pure marketing speech at work.
This. And I don't know how it usually works in the USA, but around here (France) that's how every single sale works: when an ad says you get "an extra x% off" something then it's applied after previous discounts, on the discounted price.
That's how it works in the USA, too.
+1
My issues are always with the language not the maths. I have no issues with yesterdays either.
afaik this would count as false advertisement here in germany, so I can't recall seeing offters like that.
How would that be false advertisement? You are actually getting what the marketing speech promises....
4th of July sale is more extensive than I expected. Need to get more cash somewhere lol.
“50% off the entire store” but I see prices all over the place, from 0% off and up too some very good discounts.
Just to show you how the new releases for today are working (which are correct) This is if you are a PC+ member and own the required bundles:
20.95 item x .50 (50%off) is 10.47 x .75 (25% off) is 7.85 Item is not a DOriginal
19.95 item goes 9.97 for half then 25% off is 7.47
15.95 item that IS a DO gets the 30% so 11.16 then half is 5.58 then 25% off is 4.18
As far i can see, the discounts on assets that are not covered by any special sales that are active atm didnt change at all, comparing to yesterday. “50% off the entire store” means to me, that every asset on DAZ should be discounted at least 50% ... but that isnt the case at all :-/
Do i get something wrong or is this simply an error/mistake that will be corrected?
Struggling to see today's sale. how is it triggered?
PC+ Items and new releases do not get the discount, so it is not the entire store at 50% off.
