Daz Store has to include expiration dates of every promotion!!

faisanfaisan Posts: 600

A couple of days ago, I saw a product with 80% off, I though this promotion was going to be for a long time, so I decided to purchase it in another moment. When finally I decided to purchase it, I noticed the promotion has gone and now the product had its regular price.

Then, I decided to contact the Sales Department in order to request the promotion they had just a couple of days ago and they denied.

That's why I want to request strongly to Daz Store, please, INCLUDE the expiration date of every promotion you make on your products, how could I know the 80% off promotion of my product was just for 2 days if you didn't include any expiration day???

So, please Daz Store! If you're going to offer a promotion of any product, please include the expiration date besides to the percent discount.

Please, have a little more respect for your customers!

Fuhgeddaboutit! This is the way they've done it for years. The psychology is: "If you want it, here it is. Come and get it. But choo betta get it 'cause it's goin' fast."

The respect for the customers is how steep and often the discounts come.

Not going to happen and now you know ro grab it while you can. Besides, the sales always get repeated, so if you don't get it that one time, you can grab it next time around.

The problem is, how could I know when it's the next time around? There's no information, there's nothing in Daz Store.

Why do you need to know? The goal for DAZ is to make money, economics 101. The best way to do this is for all customers to purchase everything at full price, but that is unrealistic, hence the sales. Now if they told us when the sales were, then most would wait for the sale and noone would purchase anything at full price.

I do commercial work, so I do buy some things at full price, but I have gotten some really sweet, last minute, "did not know there was a sale, buy now or it's gone" type of sales.

there is a deals plugin for most browsers that gives you a time line on the price of most addons and you can try and use that you guage when something might go on sale again.

I understand your frustration. However, my hunch is they profit significantly from sales without expiration dates. For example, I know I've purchased products here on impulse, partly *because* of not knowing when the deal would disappear. I'm sure others have done the same. So the question becomes: Does the revenue gained from their current approach (encouraging to buy sooner) exceed revenue 'lost' from customers frustrated at having missed a particular sale? My guess would be yes.

Plus, they also include expiration dates on many sales.

They don't include the sales date because of me.

    Yep it's my fault.

I wait till the LAST DAY of the sale before I buy anything in case something better comes along.

I tend to buy "The Best" stuff on offer and not just everything I want. When I don't know the off sale date or time- it feels like a window that's closing and at any minute it could dissapear.

Now or...THEN...I am taking a risk by waiting. Do I really want that? Well then I'd better get off the fence. Once you get burned by

    a) A product going back to full price with the green NEW sticker still on it....

    b) A flash sale going away after only a few hours,,,,

    c) A banner or exclusive message being gone from your account....

    d) A Promo being removed before the end of the week....

    e) an 'I'll get it tomorrow' promise-to-self being broken by the Daz midnight turnover.....

    f) Hesitating and finding that the price was indeed too good and Daz adjusted it....

    g) A momentary glitch that favored the customer...

You'll learn that waiting to see what happens next is a risk.

"Buy or buy not, there is no Wait."

Sometimes I shrug and say oh well and dump the cart....

Other times I curse myself and Daz for missing out on a great deal on something I really wanted.

In a few rare occasions, it has gone BACK on sale (in 30 days) and I've put in a ticket to get the difference back.

That vendor released another new product so my wishlisted item got a better price.....

Something even better came out in the store and I'm glad I held off.....

A forum member found something older that gets the job done.....

I figured out a way to use my own library and/or creativity to get it done without buying the newest bright bauble..

    ---------------

And so, they've figured me out and the goal is to get me to part with my hard-earned cash, not have the entire store cater to my lifelong quest for the best deal possible.

This is one feature of that other store that I like a lot.  Expiration dates.  Very budgeting friendly.

This allows me to add stuff to that cart over time, with an eye on the expiration dates, and check out when I'm ready.  Very nice when I'm working within my budgeted amount, or trying to maximize the monthly discount coupon, although so far I've generallly used that coupon within the first few days of the month.  Occasionally other coupons show up later in the month that apply to sales items as well... Then there's the 'rewards points'.

As I result, I do not feel rushed over there.  Which makes for a more pleasurable shopping experience.  I love pre-planning!

Certainly there are some really killer deals here, but sometimes it feels like the goalposts keep moving, especially when what's included in a sale changes as new sales come online,

With fast grab sales, it's been mentioned that vendors agree to some total number of items that will be sold at the fast grab discount rate, at which point the item is removed from fast grab.  So in that context I understand why fast grabs can be so unpredictable.  But for other sales, yeah...

I've come to the conclusion that the Daz sales team subscribes to chaos theory.

It may not be practical for customer service to entertain every missed sale opportunity especially if you have missed them by days rather than a few minutes. Though, I must say that staff at Rendo had once gone out on a limb and accomodated my request in the past by issuing separate coupon even when I missed a sale by more than a few hours. They are also diligent about sale end dates. It is rare to see a sale there which does not have end date clearly specified on the sale/item page.

Moreover, given the nature of how sale pricing works here, I wouldn't rely on any add-ons to notify me since they usually consider the price that can be retrieved through API calls rather than what is applicable in you cart - and they are often very different.

The retail company I work for expects the staff to go above and beyond to cater to the customers, but I instruct my staff that there is a line and to just follow the rules and company guides since it has been my expreince that when you go outside the lines to cater to a customer, such as give them a sale price even though they missed the deadline, etc, they then take advantage of it and expect it which is crap. Sad thing is, the retail community are the ones to blame for her dysfunctional attitude by catering to her unreasonable expectations.

I was at a Tom Thumb the other day with the GF and a lady was at the deli wanting a bunch of party trays and the staff girl politely explained they needed 24 hrs notice and the lady got all bent out of shape, yelled at her and said "Well walmart would do it!". that is when I had to step in and tell the idiot what she could do with her party tray order, LOL.
