How do I place a Noise Map on the Displacement Strength to make things furry?

Hi, it's njs aka YetiNate.

I have a hard time finding a Noise Map to place on the Displacement Strength in DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro.

Where can I find a free Noise Map?

When I just want random noise, I usually generate it using GIMP. There are a couple of noise generating filters as well as a "make tileable". You may need to adjust the contrast to get exactly what you want.

Or you could just buy Oso's Fur Shaders for Iray which basically does exactly what you're talking about. :)

This product does displacement via Noise map: https://www.daz3d.com/dg-iray-fur-flocking-scales-shader-presets

The reason to consider an actual product is that there are a lot of weird elements to getting a noise map to interact to produce a specific effect with displacement. The density of the noise, and so on.

Depending on what you want to do, another thing to consider is my product: https://www.daz3d.com/oso-fur-shaders-for-iray

It creates the noise procedurally, so you can tweak how big each 'dot' is, how far apart it is, and so on, and then apply a displacement map (fur length map) that can separately control where and how bright the noise is.
