OT -- Weird epic dream I had about the future of Daz

WonderlandWonderland Posts: 7,133

I wasn't going to write this, but this dream has been haunting me for some reason. The other night I had the longest most epic dream about Daz in the future (or in an alternate dimension?) Daz was a huge campus with dorms (and I was living in one) and had on campus stores selling everything from couches to towels and T-shirts, party rooms where I accidentally crashed a celebrity catered party and a mote! I was working on a project in a workshop that was using physical tools and I was using something that looked like tongs with flat circles at the top and I touched one of the circles and got an electric shock. Soon that finger started to turn blue and I began to panic and went to seek out the infirmary on campus. But I kept getting lost, ended up in the huge store, crashing that celeb party and swimming in the mote that had dolphins (that I got to pet!) and some weird sea animal that opened and closed like a flower and was lit on the inside. I was desperate to find the infirmary and asked everyone I ran into for directions but they all gave me wrong directions. My finger was turning dark blue and eventually the skin on the tip started to decompose and I was panicking. I ended up in some hospital area but it was a children's hospital with diseases that were very catching so I got out of there. I was still looking for the infirmary when the phone rang and woke me up. The dream seemed REALLY long and this is the weirdest part-- Later in the day I was feeling the tip of my index finger that had been injured in the dream and there was (and still is) layers of skin missing! I did not injure it in real life and there is no pain. If you ever got superglue on your finger and peeled it off and some skin came off with it, it's kind of like that. Really bizarre!!!

I don't know if there is any psychological meaning behind the dream but it felt so real and even left me with physical evidence! So Twilight Zone!

...at least they were not bought out by MS.

....or were they?  (Maybe that children's hospital was actually their development centre with lots of different bugs flying around).

No, more like UCLA. But with a mote with dolphins and other sea creatures LOL.  And I think there was another animal area. Like the whole Daz store was a physical entity,  now that I think of it!

I've fallen asleep and cut off the blood flow to my hand so badly that it developed nerve damage and dead spots of skin at the tips of a couple fingers for about a week.  And during the sleep my dream incorporated hand damage.  My body was apparently screaming for me to wake up, wake up, wake up...

It's either that or we've both been captured by aliens and they now take skin samples instead of doing anal probes. surprise

...interesting,  I saw a video once of a prototype virtual 3D system that effectively let you "walk" into and around your scenes. You could pose/morph your figures and move props with your "hands" & "fingers", change clothing, textures, lighting etc. by calling up  a virtual menu and selecting what you wanted position aim lighting by simply selecting and gesturing.  Everything was also in rich texture mode.

Still very much in the development stage, probably ghastly expensive (and for now likely requires at least a mini supercomputer to run as it is highly resource intensive), but I give it maybe another decade.

Oh, the aliens still do anal probes.  crying

Well, so I've heard... surprise  wink

    it was indeed a dream,

I thought that's how they conducted the anal probing, with those insanely long, spindly fingers! wink

That sounds a lot like VR. I'm hoping soon we can use gloves instead of controls in VR and use programs like DS or Photoshop in VR!

Or there are multiple realities that our soul is going through at once and sometimes one bleeds into another during sleep which is actually a theory held by some. And with quantum physics, who knows!

When I woke up, my hand felt normal, and it didn't occur to me to actually check my finger. It wasn't until many hours later that I noticed the skin missing. My cat likes to lick my fingers but I don't think enough to remove skin... Still a mystery, dodooo doodoo (Twilight Zone theme...)

One of the celebrities in the small party I accidentally crashed was Julianne Moore and it was kind of a serious party, like they were discussing politics or something and I went storming in asking "Where's the infirmary? I can't find the infirmary!!" I just googled Julianne Moore and she is, indeed, political. Curioser and curiouser, as Alice would say...

    Psychological Analysis:

You wish for a more comprehensive and complete system of learning DAZ studio and of 3D in general... (The DAZ campus)

You are amazed or at least intrigued by the diversity of products it sells and are fascinated by some of the niche interests within the DAZ community... (The campus store's amazing diversity of products and later your exploring different rooms).

You enjoy working with the software and enjoy experimenting with its various functions and undocumented, or little know abilities, but often feel some of the tools hold you back and subconsciously feel they could be more user friendly or intuitive, and to some extent feel hurt by some methods that you may have tried that wasted more time than you feel was necessary... (The workshop, injuring yourself on the tongs, the urgency of needing help as the wound changed and the flesh decomposed, reflects impatience with not having certain information readily accessible, needing to seek forum help and waiting for an answer while with each second one feels their mortality ticking away)

You find the vast quantities of products and gallery images and other digital art represented here to be almost overwhelming and sometimes you feel a bit lost trying to focus between the many ideas it gives you and the things you feel you need to focus on. You also feel dolphins are stalking you. (The many rooms, getting lost, and the dolphins)

You are not alway happy having to seek help in the forums, sometimes people don't understand what you are asking for or the answer you are given is either too simple or too complicated... (Searching for the infirmary and ending up in the children's ward)

Your finger was the part effected because even though you really like DAZ, it isn't everything to you... If you were to lose it or not be able to continue with it, it would be a definite loss, but not like losing a hand or arm... Maybe just a fingertip.

Psychological Analysis conclusion: You are perfectly normal except for your distrust of dolphins whom you believe are stalking you. You feel at times you spend too much and may be a little obsessed. You have a vivid imagination and are extremely creative and crave knowledge in easily accessible formats.

    Scientific Analysis:

As you probably already know, the concept of time is a human construct, our perception of the flow of observable events within the constraints of our physical being as dictated by the material characteristics of the matter we are composed of in this given dimensional format.

Manifested as we are within this particular universe we can only observe what appears to be a single forward progression of time and events.

But, our minds being more perceptive to a greater and more expansive multiverse, can when not encumbered or distracted by physical and visual inputs from our waking conscious, wander and touch on the many parallel universes, timelines and dimensions we can not physically experience or observe.

Many parallel timelines are often almost exactly like or imperceptively different than ours, but sightly ahead or behind ours in "time"... Sometimes by minutes, sometimes by days or years... Our minds can at times wander and witness these experiences through vague preceptions of those unfolding events. Later in our waking state we may recall those events as what is considered a "déjà vu momoment", or if we are awakened or nearly wake during an event, as a particularly vivid dream.

Generally humans are limited to only experiencing this in a dream state, though in some timelines or other incarnations of our familiar universe, we (other "We"s) can actually physically cross over or travel to them via technological means.

Excuse me for going over what is fairly common knowledge, but often it's hard to keep track of which timeline or universe I'm in, so I figured I'd just go over that, just in case...

Anyway... You probably have already figured out that you were briefly experiencing DAZODYNE INDUSTRIES MULTIVERSAL ART CAMPUS VIRTUAL MINDPLEX... You know...  That incarnation of DAZ in the year 2185 where DAZ (or rather, as it's known by then- "DAZODYNE Industries") has launched its MindPlex software.

Its pretty great until the cascade anomalies caused by a solar flare destroy the protective protocols and things go really dark and deadly...

Well, it's all good for now...

    Cheers!

@ Wonderland:  There is a way to construct 3d paintings in virtual reality.  I think it's called 'Tilt Brush'.

A moat isn't any fun unless it's filled with alligators, crocodiles or piranhas... Maybe sharks too... With lasers on their frickin heads.

Someone had something like that a while ago, only it used an iPad with special gloves instead of a VR headset... It had a slick video and I signed up for their newsletter... They kept looking for investors, but it never really seemed to go anywhere.

That was a while ago... About a year after iPad came out and it was going to blow our minds and change everything.

Great analysis except the dolphins were friendly, not stalking me at all, I was excited to pet one and it temporarily  took my mind off the finger injury. And I've had lucid dreams, where I knew I was dreaming while I was dreaming (although this was not one of them) since I was a baby and always questioned "reality' which got me interested in quantum physics and metaphysics. I've had lucid dreams where I zoom through wormholes that feel so real, so I really do believe in the possibility of alternate dimensions! I think the reason I tend to over-saturate the colors in a lot of my art is that the colors are so much more intense in those dreams and there are colors that don't quite exist in the waking world!

Yes, I have it! I've been playing a lot in VR lately which also tends to influence my dreams. There is also Medium which is a fairly basic sculpting program that came free with the Oculus and a few other paid sculpting programs that I haven't tried. I have to experiment more with Medium because you can export as obj.

Hmmm... Dolphins not stalking you... You sure they were dolphins?  Porpoises I could understand just being a little friendly and voyueristic, they tend to like to hang back in bushes to watch, but if you notice them they will make a game of it... To be honest I sorta believe all those stories the sea turtles say about them being a little stupid.

But dolphins... Dolphins are way bolder, they have the cunning of sea lion... You pet one once at an aquarium and that's it... They let the others know you are a sucker... It's like those fake phone surveys, respond to one and you never stop getting them.

Twenty years ago in Bermuda (the one with the triangle)...(it's really more of a bent up trapezoid if you take into account all the weirdness), I visited some dolphins and I was so naive that I pet one... Okay, it may have been a little more than petting, but I swear there was no kissing involved... Okay, no tongue kissing... By the way, never French kiss a dolphin, ugh... So fishy... Anyway... To this day they still follow me around... Yes... "They"... So?... Don't judge... It was a diffent time... People and dolphins and armadillos were different back then...

    Anyway...

Well, whatever... It was your dream and I'm sorry to be interject my opinions and less than scientific conclusions into it. All I'm just saying if you are walking alone at night on a beautiful tropical beach with several tropical alcoholic drinks in your arms (and a large cooler you are dragging in back of you) and a pretty (or handsome) dolphin swims up and and asks if you want to go to a party... just say "no thank you".

Sorry to go on about that.

I hear where you are coming from about vivid dreams... Vivid elaborate dreams are a blast... Even "scary" ones.

Some vivid dreams can be kinda annoying... Based on what you described already, I can imagine you probably experience something like some of the the 3D related stuff I manifest into dreams...

I've had a bunch of dreams while I'm on a big modeling project where I'm in the model futzing around with stuff... There was this one project where I had the most annoying dream about this island fortress model I made where I had a tablet device and I was going around "inside the model's world" trying to change textures and adjust stuff. I had to locate a terminal node in certain areas for the new textures or changes to load, but the nodes were only visible if you were not "in" the model world... You had to "wake up" into the real world and going back and forth was frustratingly cumbersome so I just dealt with the wonky controls and terrible GUI from "within" the model.   The texture kept loading imperfectly and I kept finding flaws like gaps in walls or steps that were too tall. The worst part was I couldn't shake the dream... I normally wake up several times at night, and each time I kept going back to where I left off. I kinda hated the model a little in the morning and backed off for a while.

Well, I should end this, before I take up too much of this thread with my nonsense.

Are you doing comic stories? Usually weird dreams are a great resource for stories.

The book "The Strange World of Your Dreams" (2013) is a collection of 1950's comic books where readers were offered money to send in their weird dreams for dramaization and analysis by the resident dream analyst (host, narrator).   The stories have a Twilight Zone feel to them.

Since McGyver already provided an analysis, I'll just add that the finger injury went from the conscious mind to the subconcious where it worked it's way into the dream.  Wonderland said the dream felt so real.  So the mind then replaced any memory of the injury with that of the dream.  Selective amnesia.

    Orrrrr ..............

The real Wonderland is still on the mother ship, and the faulty copy is starting to deteriorate, with the finger first.

Very intriguing, considering you encountered the physical symptom of unexplained skin removal from finger!

Doesn't sound like anything to do with Daz Studio, but as others have said, perhaps it was a version where assets and scenes are constructed in a virtual reality environment? Like 'Second Life', except practical. :)

    Cheers!

@McGyver OK, so this is going to sound really weird and I don't usually post this stuff in public forums unless they are metaphysical ones, but I believe that some lucid dreams are actually OBEs, Out of Body Experiences, into alternate dimensions. I've been experimenting with these dreams or whatever they are since I was a small child and noticed that certain things that look familiar to us like windows, paintings, TV, movie or computer screens, or mirrors are mental constructs and you can fly through them into alternate dimensions or locations, often zooming through a classic winding wormhole looking thing on the way.. I was doing this waaaaay before I ever tried computer games (which often use these same constructs) and 3D graphics or VR. I think many developers and artists must have similar experiences and I've read books and seen posts on certain sites from people who have had similar or identical experiences. I even spoke to a Princeton educated quantum physicist who believes all this is real. And don't even get me into the very real government "Project Stargate" in the seventies, and Remote Viewing and The Monroe Institute in Virginia that creates binaural beat sound frequencies that put people in their desired altered states and is used by the military still secretely for remote viewing. As crazy as all this sounds, it's real, and you can google it.

Someone once asked me if it changed my life at all, having these experiences and experimenting with them since birth. I said it made me not take this life as seriously and made me focus on finding joy rather than focus on the negative (although this is getting harder these days...) Some theorists believe life is like the Sims, maybe we are controlled by our higher self and all the drama of our lives is created by ourselves for amusement, like watching a dramatic movie or playing a certain video games. Who knows. My life right now is a combination of struggle mixed in with some great times, but this is the most struggle I've had in my life and liked it better before LOL. Anyway, I have to just look at it like a game and have as much fun as possible while at the same time trying to win... So that's my philosophy. For now, anyway.
