Bizarre Glitch with file, Suggestions?

Okay, I've got one of my saved character scenes.  I have opened and rendered it, and saved it.

Now when I try to open it, or merge it with other scenes. It opens, the character comes in, and then a progress bar at the bottom of the viewport starts up, and when it finishes, the whole screen blanks out like there is no scene open. The character is still listed in the scene file. But there is no scene visible.

If I've merged the character scene into another scene, and then delete the character, everything becomes visible again.

What is going on. Why does this scene blank out my viewport?

Is there a Smoothing Modifier applied to something in the scene (probably clothes)? If so, try turning it off via the Parameters pane>Mesh Smoothing.

There probably is, but I finally got it sorted by being stuborn. I opend the file. Again. It opend and then blanked, So I loaded an unmorphed G3M (the character file is based on G3M). It loaded. The scene was still blank. I deleted G3M. Scene still blank. I undid the deletion, the figure showed up in the scene tab, but the scene was still blank.

Then I deleted the original figure. The scene cleared and showed the unmorphed G3M. I undid that deletion and caught a slew of autofit dialogues which I just knep hitting cancel for.

Whe the smoke cleared, both the original figure and G3M were there in the zero positon. Visible. I moved G3M. Everything still visible. I deleted G3M. Everything still visible.

I saved the scene. Opened a couple of other ones and then that one and the glitch was gone.

No idea what I did, or why it worked, and even less of an idea of what went wrong in the first place, but I seem to have a usable file again and that's what i was after.
