dForce Draped Dress Converted to Static Prop?

FauvistFauvist Posts: 2,219

Is there a way to put a dForce dress on a figure in DAZ Studio and use dForce to drape the dress, or blow it in the wind, and then convert it to a prop that I can export?

Thanks!

You can export it as an object prop (OBJ). First fit the dress to whatever character you want, texture/pose/dForce the dress as you plan for it to look, then make everything except the dress invisible - there are several ways to do this, as you probably know. And then export the dress as an OBJ file, from the "File" dropdown menu. And when you get the "Export Options" panel, select (tick): Ignore Invisible Nodes, Write UV Co-ordinates, Write Normals, Write Object Statements, Write Groups, Write Existing Groups, Write Surfaces, Write Material Library, and Original Maps. And ACCEPT.

There are variations to this, but that should get you a decent prop. If the textures don't get converted, simply treat the prop as a normal dress, and apply the original textures from your Content Library.

You could also use it as a morph, just be sure to export it as base resolution; save the post you have on the figure as you'll likely need that to pull it in and have it work correctly. The issue with dforce morphs I've found so far, is that although they work great, they affect the item when not dialled in, so only work when dialled in and in the pose they were designed for. They don't work the same as morphs on normal clothes.

You could however, convert the dforce dress to a tradition piece of clothing then load the morph - good if you are expecting to reuse, and saves the dynamic posing time, which can be lengthy. Oh it still looks odd without the dress drape morph dialled in though.
