What are those prices? (Maya items on sale?)

Saw todays "The Beauty of Asia" sale and my jaw hit the floor when I saw the prices of the "Related Items" sale.  They are all $99.95 each and are in FBX-Maya format.  Glad I don't have Maya. Sheesh.

They're not all $99.95, there are "regular" items included in the sale as well. Turn a page. :)

I know but everything showing up on the scroll bar on the sale page are $99.95.  The top 57 items are all $99.95

Those Maya products are sold with interactive license included, hence the high price.

And considering Maya costs $1500 per year...

    I think I'll stick with Daz. :)

You can see that these are intended for professional users. Apart from the prices the promo pictures are all with a figure in default pose, no expression, no background sets or props. Just a picture to show the product with no effort to make it look exiting. When you scroll down to the normal Daz items the contrast in styles is clear.

For a professional user this sort of price is normal, maybe even lower than they are used to. If you'd paid for Maya you wouldn't be bothered by this sort of price. As a hobbyist I stick with the cheaper Daz stuff, even though we do complain about the prices sometimes.

yes $99 is steep for a character even for Maya FXB base. But the good thing is if you buy an new release they are 70% off which bring them down to  $27.70 which inclding the interactive license.  if you are using Maya this would be a hellava deal .

Would it really be a deal? I'd imagine you could just buy the daz versions and transfer using something like this: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-to-maya

Then again, I suppose the interactive license is what makes it worth the higher price.

I was a little worried by the "Beauty of Asia related items" sale and how many pretty outfits, hairs, sets, and props I might end up buying at 70% off. On the bright side, I don't use Maya and don't need add-ons or poses for old characters. A no-buy day for me!

yeah, getting any DAZ model into Maya is the easy part, you are paying for the usage, just like any 3D model. The reason DAZ prices are cheaper than the professional ones is that we are paying for their use in DS and poser. Once a model is exported out of DS, it goes all over the web to many different apps and this higher price is a way to help recoup costs.

  • Yep, It's a 0 interest sale day for me also.  But considering how much I spent here last month a couple of 0 interest sale days are what my wallet needs.

The FBX models aren't just for use in Maya. They're also for game developers who want ready-made characters for their games (they include the interactive license, which is probably why they are so expensive).

But yeah I think some people in this thread are still missing the fact that there are plenty of other items related to Mei Lin and Lee in the sale... including some bundles, which stack with the current 60% bundle flash sale, by the way.

If you go to the second page, you will find regular DAZ Studio items on the 70% off sale. The discounts stack with the Bundle Flash Sale. With a banner offer I had, I was able to get Lee 7 Pro Bundle for less than $13 today. If you are a PC+ member, you could get it even cheaper. In fact, by choosing my items carefully, I was able to get several items for over 90% off.
