The interactive license, what does it cover and allow..

Can anyone direct me to a thread in the forums that answers questions about the extent of use the interactive license covers?

I am looking for answers to questions about uploading assets to a MMO game in particular.

I am not looking to sell or give any of these assest away.

I am only interested in using them as a prop for my own character or as a house for example.

Thanks.

If the mesh is used in a game to sell you will need a license for each mesh used.

I don't believe the interactive  EULA allows for use outside of a commercial game. This sounds more like a mod and DAZ assets, last time I checked were not to be used for mods. Besides, if it's a MMO, that means multiplayer and since others will come in contact with the mesh, then it can be extraced from the game and that is one of the reasons the interactive license exists.

If it's a single-player game installed and used solely on your own machine then you don't need any extra license. If it's some kind of MMO or other game that requires uploading the data then it wouldn't be permitted, even with the interactive license.

Are You saying you cannot load, say a farm scene into an closed online game. If these are created for other users to be able to interact with the assets how is it prohibited? The logic seems circular. You need the license so users can use and interact but you cant use it if others need to interact with it?

I sounds like you are saying you can only use it if your the only user. The what is the interactive license for?

Baically the way I read it is the interactive user license is for the purpose of use by a third party. To allow for interactioin with the asset. Your intrepetation would seem to counterdict that.

I am still confused and uncertain what this all really means.

Let me take this to another level. What if the creator offers the asset for sale on the game site what is the difference there?  That I purchase it there or here ( or anywhere else selling it in a legitimate situation) what difference would it make?

Remember, I am not advocating that I, as the end purchaser would have resale rights, only usage for the asset a game.

Think of it in these terms. I buy a castle. I then load the castle on a property in a game under my user profile that I can use as a "house" in that game. People can come to that "house" and sit in the chairs there but they cannot copy or buy or change the castle. It is a static prop that they can walk thru and they can see but they cannot change it any way. They cannot buy it from me and they cannot copy it from the game.

I am just trying to understand the limits of the license being offered. Right now it seems like it has no value as it is being described.

    Thanks.

I'm saying that the basic license doesn't allow distributing the 3D content to others. The Interactive License is, as FSMCDesigns says, for compleet titles and not add-on content.

The point is that you are not creating a game to sell, that is what the interactive license is for and what the DAZ models are for that have the interactive licenses. You are creating a mod to an existing game and that is not the use of the DAZ models and not allowed.

the license has value for a game developer wanting to develop a game, that is not the case here.

If they can interact with the castle in their game, they can extract it along with the textures and any other mesh they see. It's a very common practice unfortunately

Keep in mind this is just the forum, for a difinitive answer, you should submit a support ticket direct to DAZ

If what your saying is correct, I am not saying its not, then couldn't anyone using the game that someone developed using those assets open them to the same risks of it being extracted along with the textures as you discribed?
