Sandy Skin?

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to simulate sand stuck to skin? Even as Photoshop post would work.

Thanks

    What figure are you using?

    This would be with G3

There would be two options, overlooking the part in your previous image that showed a "blob" of sand - that would be best modelled separately.

Option one would be to use a material package that was designed for Genesis 3 (usually separate for males and females) that would produce the effect that you are after. In the DAZ Store for example, Skin Doctor might provide the options to create the effect that you are looking for:

Or, as you mention, you could achieve a similar result in postwork. There are, as you may already know, a ton of brushes both free and for purchase (including here in the DAZ Store - i.e. Ron's/Deviney's various brushes) available for that.

Hey it (Skin Doctor) does say "sand", didn't notice that before. The product pics look like a simple colored dirt texture with no thickness, but maybe it can work. I'll check it out. Thanks SixDs

Oh damn, just for females. Ugh.

Think I'm going to try to create my own LIE images using G3 UVs and transparent sand images.

Although subtle, the sand is going to have some relief. So, depending on how close the figure is going to be, you probably want to use corresponding Bump (probably sufficient), Displacement or Normal maps to provide a more realistic representation of the sand grains.

Check out the promo pics of the shaders for "A Touch of Dirt for Iray." One looks like sand color, and the product says it can be used on any character. The artist made a 6-part YouTube video tutorial for this product too. https://www.daz3d.com/a-touch-of-dirt-for-iray https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhMqfqgUaaex5wRS3B-gabGhiI0gVucel

SixDs: yeah hopefull;y bumps will be good enough.

dawnblade: thanks! yeah that looks pretty cool. I'll have to watch those videos to hopefully figure out how easy it might be for me to apply dirt/sand in a very targeted fashion to specific portions of body parts. Need to target bottoms of feet, shins, etc. so I'm assuming I'll need to do some custom maps.
