Content Management Service - Can You Uninstall/Permanently Disable ?

Everytime I load DS (version 4.10.0.123) in order to see all of the content I have installed, I have to stop the CMS.  Can I uninstall it or disable it without killing DS?

    You mean stop and restart? Stopping would stop the CMS based views from showing anything. In any event, that shouldn't be happening - what security software do you use?

    I mean stop it completely. When I stop it (either immediately or Fast within DS - all the content that isn't showing up, becomes visible). I also notice that the weird issue I was having with the content heiarchy menues not expanding was solved by stopping the CMS.  I'm using ZoneAlarm.

    ZoneAlarm did have issues with PostgreSQL (generally, not just in DS) thought hat still sounds very strange.
