Possible to import new material zones for clothing

I am assuming this is possible. I have a clothing object with only one material zone and the mesh is dense and complicated, so using the geometry editor is out (I tried). I was able to export it and add new material zones easily, is there a way to import these back to the original object? The mapping hasn't changed at all, but I am also thinking I might have to save a new UVmap to make this happen. Any ideas? I did the new zones in Ultimate Unwrap 3d.

I was doing something similar & Richard Haseltine told me you can't really do that except to save it as a new character preset (or I guess in your case a new wearable preset).

    @ FSMCDesigns

Try the action Edit > Figure > Update Base Geometry and in the Update Operation choose Update Full Geometry instead of the default Update Vertex Position.

Next you will see the OBJ Import Options dialouge with the various options at the bottom.

I'm not 100 percent shure about that but this should read in any changes to the UV-map, the Face Groups (Poly Groups) and the Surface Groups (Material Zones).

The Vertex Count & Order should keep the same as the original otherwise it refuses to update or you will get an exploding mesh I guess.

[PS] I don't think the Material Zones are related to the UV-Coordinates.

    Wow, thanks, that worked perfectly!

After posting the question I went ahead and just imported the new OBJ and transferred the rigging, which given I had a 50/50 shot of that working from experience, it worked. Seeing your post I decided to try this out and it gave me slightly better results, so thanks for the reply.
