Since I like Canadian Bacon, (both the stuff Canadians call Canadian Bacon and the stuff we Americans call Canadian Bacon), and the Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup, that puts me over the top: Happy Canada Day!

Oh, and have some Canadian music, everyone! He's playing on Parliament Hill today - this is a recording from when he was in orbit...

Thanks Rob, now I can fresh up my karaoke again *laughs* To bad I don't play an instrument... hmm I really should try to learn to play guitar, and to learn playing my songstone (a type of ocarina)

I'm late to post, but I just had to pop in and say that I was really surprised to find out that most of my favorite sci-fi shows are Canadian made, casted, and filmed. Good stuff, eh? Sorry, (pronounced so-rry), couldn't resist. But, I was serious about the tv shows. Love them all. I'm a Floridian, so we have a love-hate relationship with Canadians, usually. In theory, we say we don't like them, but so far I have not actually met anyone from Canada that I have not absolutely enjoyed spending time with.

Cheers, Canada.  Always enjoy my visits.  In honor of Canada Day, I will find a local sports bar here in DC to watch the BlueJays game.  1pm start?

I remember having business at the Canadian Embassy on June 6, 2012, the anniversary of D-Day.  Obviously, a sad but stirring reminder of a longstanding alliance.  In the lobby, instead of paintngs, there was a giant hi-res flat screen which showed pictures of paintings.  They were on a cycle.  All of the revolving paintings were of sea battles.  I kept waiting for some recognition of the Normandy invasion.  But as I looked closely, I noticed that all of the paintings were of naval battles between the US and Canada (Britain) on the Great Lakes during the War of 1812.  Eventually, I realized that it was the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.  The Canadians were reminding all of their U.S. visitors that the yankee horde had been beaten back.

So, despite that litle dig from our oh-so-polite neighbor to the north (or maybe because of it), I drove to Ontario the next month, which turned out to include Canada Day!  The Canadian side of Niagara Falls should be on everybody's tacky bucket list.  And I went to a Bluejays game at the Rogers center later that week.  Best.  Time.  Ever.

    Enjoy your day.

    Happy Canada Day!!!

    Me <<married to a Canadian!>>

Are you doing anything special today, @FirstBastion?  Doesn't the big Rib Festival start this weekend?  I always wanted to go to that, but hubby isn't all that big on ribs or barbeque.  I hope you and your family has a great day!

I"m a proud American and I'll have none of this Canada Day! I mean, the nerve of a country that takes the name of a bacon for itself! What do you call Canadian bacon in Canada? "Our Bacon"?!

No, I shall spend the day watching great American stars like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, James "Scotty" Doohan from Star Trek, and Nathan Fillion from Castle and Firefly. I"ll watch American shows like Supernatural, Arrow and Quantico. I'll enjoy American staples like French Fries, Baseball, and play some scratch off lottery tickets.

No, I will proudly put America First today.

    Thank you!

please note that all of the above is either from, produce in, or mostly by, Canada. Even saying "America First" means Canada (and Mexico and the rest of the Western Hemisphere, but lets just stick with jingoistic American irony).

Spent a real 'Canuck' day with my stupid chain saw clearing the detritus from some nasty winter storms (downed trees).  Despite a long shower, I still smell like bug dope.  At least I kept all my limbs.

    Greetings from Fredericton.

Thanks for the warm wishes.   It rained a good part of the day,  first real rain we've had in a month so it was welcomed,  but really put a damper on outside activities.   Took the family to a movie,  and we might catch the fireworks later if the weather cooperates.

And here I thought Canada just got the day off to watch coverage of the first day of hockey free agency. Whilst we poor southerners had to settle for obsessively refreshing our phones every 15 seconds
