My GTX780Ti is dead.

Maybe rendering a lot of boobs was the case, IDK.

but that is not the question, I mean, It served well all this 3 years, I bought in May 23rd,2015.

so, I need a new card but at this time I'm seeing only less than 2880 Cuda Cores in the newest cards and my dead card was 384bit bus.

Question: does matter the 192,256 bits for iray rendering?, or is irrelevant?

my budget is only $500 USD...and maybe up to $600 if robbing a 7Eleven angel

I can survive with less cuda cores, planning a GTX 1060 with 6Gb of Ram, Im not into mega scenes with a ton of props, just for the records.

any sugestions?, not Quadroes, not money for that, and Im not a PC Gamer.

English is not my native language, sorry if is rotten.

Look up the benchmark thread. Or this great benchmark.

    https://www.migenius.com/products/nvidia-iray/iray-2017-1-benchmarks

You need to consider this: CUDA cores are not equal across generations. The 780ti is great, but it is now 2 generations old. So while newer cards might have fewer CUDA, they are improved. The Pascal cards also have a much higher clock speed on top of that.

The 1070ti is the best buy right now. You can get one for right about $500. It has 8gb of VRAM, more than double your 780ti, and it is much faster. It is even faster than the 1080 at rendering. It is not faster at gaming than a 1080, but it is really close (and that probably doesn't matter to you.)

So if I was buying right now, with a $500 budget the 1070ti is what I would buy.

The simple answer is, never compare Cuda Cores from different generations.

You could also hold tight and see what new appears in the coming months.

How long warranty does it have?

great advices! only my guess is the bandwidth, is ok in 192bit or merely 256?, does render faster on higher number?

btw, I think my card, I remark I think (not sure), was experimenting problems with simulating old clothes in dForce, because Nvidia sent Kernel errors on windows notifications, then t windows deactivated due to "was presenting error/problems", yep, I formated and reinstaled a fresh win7, nothing, changed to Win10 and nothing happened.

is invalid were I live because its must contain all the original package in MINT condition, cables, software, stickers, etc.

for 3 years that is impossible, and if, is all damaged. crying

well I'll have the money in July (work savings, some freelancing), good tip!

Bandwidth does not matter, so don't worry about that. Look at my link, bandwidth isn't factoring in the GPU speeds.

If they have no render machine, that might not be a good option. The 1180 is rumored to cost more, so the 1170 probably will, too. And then you have Daz's past history with taking over 6 months to support Pascal. We don't even know when the next Gen will release. Even if it released today, it could be 2019 before Daz supports it. I wouldn't want to wait that long if my only machine was dead.

I mean factory warranty, where they give you a new if it breaks down (often 3 or 5 years).

Yes with a new Nvidia series just around the corner you may get lucky and prices on the 1060 and or 1070 will drop or get some discount action. (Usually when new models come the older get cheaper)

I was lucky i got my 1070 at the exact right point (around 400 euros) now i see the same card for 600 euros. I do thing teh 1070 is one of teh best cards for sale in terms of price/quality ratio. My only advise is try not to skimp on Vram. (I know that what makes the cards cheaper) no point Buying i big card and because of insufficent memory Daz Studio switches to CPU rendering.

LOL, that is the question I've been asking myself since.... a very long time.

Hold off upgrading until.... is there ever the right time? Nobody wants to bite the bullit if something shiny, big and new is just around the corner. It's infuriating. At least the OP has to and doesn't have to shilly-shally in the matter.

Well... I kept holding off, was waiting for the 1080ti, then it was "I really don't want to buy nvidia" so maybe I'll look at going to cycles in Blender or an alternative, and here I am, still waiting and wondering; 980ti still does decent job; the 970 has issues though, as it drives 3 monitors.

Yep, good point, My GTX was 3Gb, now I'm pointing to 6Gb, even a 8GB if budget allows.
