Thanks, DAZ, I joined the PC Club and bought Floyd

I decided to see just how much I'd save. I got the quarterly PC club option, and ended up buying the Floyd Pro bundle. Darn, that is a great deal.

Now I need to reinstall all my DAZ Stuff. I had previously wiped my DAZ3D hard drive, but I still have the clone backup disk. I need to do some more work before I can begin to make art again!

Good to hear Ron! So why did you wipe all your DAZ stuff off your PC in the first place?

  • Ron KnightsRon Knights Posts: 2,072

I hadn't used DAZ Studio for months, and was in a rut. I couldn't find the kind of old guy characters I wanted. Then I had some computer problems and re-purposed my main DAZ drive for Apple's Time Machine. Now I'm trying to format and re-use the drive for DAZ stuff. The desktop drive might have died.

I've ben picking up PC+ when it literally pays for itself :)

I'll have 2 or 3 items in my cart waiting for a sale and I'll watch how much the PC+ would save me if I had it.

Often times, not only will I save as much as the PC costs, but sometimes even more.

Just the other day I had 4 items in my cart. Without PC+ the total was like $58. I added the PC+ to my cart and my total went down to $45! So not only was PC+ free, but I also got a little over $10 off my order

I got the Floyd 8 bundle for $66 after I joined the PC Club. I'm happy!

Didn't you get three of the add-ons to reduce the price even further and get 3 free bundles as well? If you pick 3 of the cheapest addons the total order price is actually a bit less than the price of Floyd 8 Pro by itself.

If not you might want to redo your order and request a refund of your original Floyd 8 pro purchase

Edit to add: The total cost of my order with Floyd 8 Pro, the 3 addons I selected and the 3 free bundles was $61.10

II'll need to take a look at that later. I'm easily confused.

I had the same oversight with Edie, forgot my 3 free bundles, it happens

I still was happy with my deal just afterwards realised it could have been even better with a cherry on top

but I did not pursue any refunds as I know from experience another deal will come around, I just hate doing all the extra "paperwork "

I'll probably call DAZ Customer service on Thursday and see if they can help me sort things out.

the Floyd pro bundle ends up being $42 after you put 3 items in cart...BUT .. you have to pay for them too laugh YOu can get that part down to about 22-23$ ... you end up in about the same price point..THEN..you can add 3 FREE bundles of older stuff..G3 and under ... Its all good yes

I may not deal with that until Monday. I've run into a bunch of complications that make things a bit dicey. It's taken me a few hours just to get to the point where I can start reinstalling my DAZ Stuff.

Any complications that we could help you with?

I had a computer scare awhile ago, and reformatted my main Macintosh hard drive. Then I reformatted my main DAZ3D data drive, and re-purposed it. Yesterday I had trouble reformatting the drive so I could use it for DAZ3D again. Then I used my DAZ3D backup drive to bring stuff back to the DAZ3D desktop drive. Now I'm running DIM, and not entirely sure what is happening. In the meantime i have a bandwidth issue until tomorrow. I hope I don't exceed my bandwidth.

  • kaotkblisskaotkbliss Posts: 2,914

I know DIM uses the dsx files to know what's installed, if those are not in the DIM's download location, then it will think nothing is installed and want to re-download it all...

I thought the DIM install was slow. I still had my previous DAZ Install folder. DIM should only have been installing the Floyd stuff I just bought. When install was done, I ran DAZ Studio. I couldn't find Floyd!

Then I realized DIM had installed all my content in the "MyDAZ3D" library on my main internal Mac drive. I have a 3TB external hard drive devoted exclusively to DAZ3D content. I deleted that pesky MyDAZ3d library, and decided to uninstall the entire previous installation and start over. In the meantime, I keep passing out due to complications from Sleep Apnea. Time for a nap.

In my estimation, DIM is spoiled by the lack of proper organization. Smart Content is totally useless.

I almost never use Smart content. I always use content library -> products

Sounds like Dim was not changed to use the external and left on default. OOps

I saw that if you buy multiple items from there, they all become cheaper. Originally I was going to pick up just Victoria 8. But look how cheap it was to for me

Edit: no, I’m not a memeber who’s been on here for years. I just found about Dax 3D a few days ago. Now I’ve already spent over $300 on stuff. I gotta stop

Like many others, I've been a DAZ customer since they were known as Zygote (back around 1999). I just realized the PC Club is the most valuable to me when DAZ introduces new DAZ Originals. Floyd is a good example. The other thing that hit me was the sheer amount of supporting products. We have senior citizen's walkers, walker poses, clothes, and hair! Now our old folks can really look old!

During the time I was away from my DAZ pursuits, I got into Genealogy, tracing my family tree. Ancestry's servers have been down for a few weeks, so I came back to DAZ to see what was happening. That's when I saw Floyd! Boom! Here I am again!

Congrats on getting Floyd. Looks like he definitely fills in a niche that we've been missing. I'm tired of seeing figures that look like Barbie and Ken.

So far my strategy's been to skip a generation to save money. So I bought Gen1(5) and Gen3(7) and I should be skipping ahead to Genesis 9 whenever it's released, but Floyd and some of the others are making me seriously reconsider.

I'm enormously relieved to see the addition of genuinely elderly base characters turning up in the official lineup.

When G3 suddenly made it next to impossible to use the library of skins I'd managed to scrounge for older characters (my continuing character library requires a *lot* of older characters) -- mosty using gen4 skins, although there were some for Genesis 1&2, that constituted a deal-breaker. I've stuck to my predominantly Genesis 1 library until the last month or so. Admittedly, there still aren't as many older skins for the G3+ linup as there were for the 3 generations previously, but that age group is getting *much* better representation, much quicker than was ever the case before. Monster skins, we've seen. Elderly skins, not so much.

Kitsumo, it's great to hear from you. I get totally exhausted using DAZ Studio. I saw 3Delight materials for Floyd, and used them. I did a 3Delight render, and it came out badly. I switched to iray, and it's better. Now I need a nap!
