Does makeup for G3F work on G8F?

Does the makeup products (for example the LIE stuff, or eyeshadow and liner products) for G3F work on G8F as well?  Are the head UV's similar that it would work?  Thanks for any feedback!

Generally yes; need to be manually applied. Although could apply to G3, then copy to G8, works with other shader and textures, but don't recall if I've tried with LIE

The realatively minor differences in geometry shouldn't be an issue for.

Great thanks, had one in my cart at another shop, but wasn't sure before I buy.

LIE makeups work just fine, as long as you're using Base Female UV, because that's essentially identical for both generations. Something like https://www.daz3d.com/extreme-closeup-makeup-for-genesis-3-female-s will work perfectly for both Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Females using the Base Female UV.

If eyeshadow or other makeups are included with a specific character ... OK, here it gets a touch complicated.

IN GENERAL: if you try to use the makeups that are included with a particular character on another, it will bring that character's face along for the ride. So if you have a really interesting makeup on, say, FWSA Shiloh G3F (uses Base Female UV) that you want to use on Zola HD G8F, what will happen is that you wind up with Shiloh's face and the rest of the body will have Zola's texture.

HOWEVER: Some Genesis 8 characters -- primarily but not purely the Daz Originals named characters like Monique 8 herself or Olympia 8 herself -- use Diffuse Overlay for their makeup for their Iray textures. (I assume they use the normal texture replacement method for their 3Delight makeups, since it doesnt have Diffuse Overlay, but haven't actually checked that; they may use LIE instead.) Those makeups can be used on other characters with Base Female UVs; I just used Monique 8's makeup on a G3F texture (render currently baking on another computer that I'm not at, or I'd show it). You just have to know whether or not they use Diffuse Overlay, and unfortunately, they don't really say. However, if you accidentally apply a makeup that's baked into the texture rather than Diffuse Overlay, doing an Edit menu/Undo will get rid of it, as long as it was the last thing that you did.

    Hope that helps.

To expand on this you CAN use a "baked on" face makeup on other characters by first loading a Diffuse Overlay makeup to the character and then loading the baked makeup face to the "Diffuse Overlay Color" slot in the Surfaces tab. They often look a bit more natural if you also add light to medium grey to the color slot.

I generally use a customer toon skin shader, versus textures, so I am just applying makeup on top of it.  This is good info, thanks all!
