Available UV Map Switching?

I was looking through the store to see what was on sale and wondered about a package of uv maps. I am not interested in switching shapes between the various models, only their textures. So far I have only come across items that allow this for one or two switches and would have to buy a whole bunch of items to get a complete set...I can't afford that. Is there a package that has all the uv maps for Gen4 thru to G8 ?

No. You have various packages that cover M/V4 to G2. Then comes the break between those generations and G3/G8.

I think there's a manual way, though, for the earlier generations. But I'm, not sure about it. So maybe some someone can help out here?

There is some kind of tool for converting textures yourself that I don't know much about, but the UV tools by Cayman (most are here, but the V4toG3F tool is at Rendo) only handle one one gender each and usually one generation "hop". If you are going to use them, I would focus on buying the ones you have the most skins for: for instance I never invested heavily in Genesis 1 or 2 and haven't switched to G8 yet, so for me the priority was getting V4 and M4 onto Genesis 3, which in turn meant that I only had to buy two of the UV tools. I waited until the one here was on sale, and then waited until I had a coupon for the one at Rendo.

Please note: Cayman's products require you to have saved out the material preset in .duf format, and they use some geograft addons to bridge the seam differences between the UVs. The geografts do NOT play nice with dforce, or at least the ones for G3 don't.

Ok well I mostly use Gen4 and G2 and ocassionally use G1 and G3, once in a blue moon I pull out G8. I have a lot of great textures from V4 characters and would love to use them on G1 and G2. I remember there was a manual way to convert the textures from V4 to DUF but for the life of me I don't remember how and have had no luck searching the boards to find it, it was on the Daz boards I saw these instructions. Searching is giving me a headache...lol The search function here sucks, never gives me what I am searching for. I tried asking I think on the freebie board but never got a response.

Odaa what do you mean it does not play nice with dforce, I thought that was used only on clothes, how would that affect a character texture with geografts?

Just looked at my bookmarked threads. The first one describes how to use the map transfer utility but is for G3 to G8... but younger generations should work similar.

If you want to make things easier, and mostly go between M/V4 to G2, then perhaps this is the best option and investment:

V4 to G2F is comparatively easy, if this thread is to be believed: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/39628/v4-uv-mapping-request-for-g2f

Saving a material as a duf file is also relatively easy: select figure, go to file->save as->material preset and figure out what you're going to call it and where you want it saved.

DForce refuses to drape properly on a figure with geografts or at least it did when I last tried it a couple months ago.

ok I have the V4 and the M4 to G2 series so have the clones, and thank you for the link to convert to duf. I bookmarked the batch converters, can't afford them just yetamd bookmarked everything else to read.

Thank you so much for your help. And Odaa thanks for the geograft info, will keep that in mind for the future.

I thought the original problem with dForce and geografts had been resolved.  In any case you can always load the geografts after you have run dForce.

It has been resolved, dForce runs perfectly in combination with your UV products.

There had been an issue with all geografts (not just your products) together with dForce, but that was resolved in the latest release a few months ago.

I've not any problems lately with your geografts and dForce. Here's Victoria 7 using Angel for V4's textures via your Legacy UVs product. The clothing is dForced. As far as I can tell it they work well together. :)

I highly recommend the Cayman Studios Legacy UVs. It's SOOO much easier and faster than manually transfering UVs.

I can't use Cayman's UV's, those are for G3 and G8, as I stated before I use Gen4 and G2, and sometimes G1 and G3, rarely G8. There is also the fact those UV are divided to include one model in each pack, with each pack costing 21.95, ending up with each model version costing over $100 and there are 5 versions of each model. So if Cayman has them for all the model versions, that would end up costing me over $500. I also checked and there are no bundle that would help reduce the cost. I'm on a fixed income, so unless I won a lottery, I can't buy Cayman's products no matter how good they might be, no matter how much easier and faster that might be.

On the off chance I actually do win a lottery, they are wishlisted, but that's probably as far as that ever goes. At least until a new version comes out and like everything else, what is currently in the shop is obsolete and goes to freebies or fast grab or major discount.

I want to thank everyone for their help, I got what I need to get the Gen4 textures on the G2 models, saved all the information to my computer. Also I noted the new information of geograft and dforce being resolved.

If you did use G3, you only need to buy one product per gender, and that is the one for base G2F/G2M. You can then use Map Transfer to transfer all your other skins based on other UVs to G2F/G2M first, and then you can apply them onto G3. It is a bit more work, but it would work out much cheaper.

Thanks Havos and Divamakeup for clarifying the matter.  As for the cost, Faeryl Womyn, I feel your pain, but if you keep a watch out they are sometimes quite heavily discounted. wink

Oh I have been watching...like a hawk...lol  Now they just need to coincide those sales with my paydays...lol

In the past year or so I have been lucky enough to have won several art contests that give credit for stores and that has helped a lot. I also ocassionally have people who give me store credit or buy something for me, though I won't ask as I feel that makes me look greedy and I am not the only person who has money problems. Eventually I do get what I want in some manner, either by myself or through others and I am patient. Most recently I was given a store credit and the donator has demanded I get busy and create more art, so kinda have to fill that obligation at the moment...lol

I find the biggest problem is getting older items as they are disappearing and I worry they will be gone before I can get them, such as fearieme and morphus and morphina. Someone made some really beautiful charactors that require those and I never see them go on sale. CDI had a character set of morphs for Gen2 males that disappeared and they would have been perfect for anime.

If all goes well with my brother, I will be able to afford those things no problem very soon and finally get a computer that will let me use dforce...lol  When my mother passed away she left me and my 2 brothers the house, we decided to sell and split between us, but it's an old house with problems, so the older one is trying to buy it. The bank said no, so he is going to a loan office. If he succeeds he will give me and my other brother a chunk of money and use the rest to fix the house and finally be able to sell it. Here's hoping it all works out.
