Hi,

I plan to purchase 4 GeForce graphic cards and I would like to know if DAZ Studio will work better with SLI or not.

As far as I remember, nvidia recommend disabling SLI for iray.

SLI is for games, it is not needed for rendering.

It can even cause issues with Rendering, never mind not needed; it can also cause slow-downs, I believe.

On a similar note, is it possible to leave the SLI bridge hooked up and disable it in software? So if someone wants to play games (w/ SLI) and then render (w/out SLI) can they do that without opening up their case? I've never had SLI, but I've always wondered about that.

    Okay, thank you everybody !

Is there something to configure in order to force Iray to use the 4 GPU ?

just select them all in Studio. Is in the Render Tab, with Iray selected as renderer.

Yep, right click on your desktop and go to the nvidia control panel

Mine are frying at the moment do one render then I have to rest them this the system cools, they both are running at 85 Deg is that too high don't know. But I get a burning smell and the system shuts down it's not the system memory. Could be the processor or the power supply ? I need to find a diagnostics program the find the problem? got promo to render asap, might try using the CPU as well to take the pressure off the GPUs. Anyone got ideas?

Well Mech4D had 4 cards in sli these were really high end cards but before the gtx series apparently with the gtx series having them in sli makes no difference in rendering/daz don't know if this has changed or not though you do have the option in your render settings to use select more than one  I have two 1080gtx cards myself good for games though

85 deg definitely sounds high, but it depends on your cards. Your computer shouldn't have a burning smell (or any smell really). You may want to open your case and make sure all your fans are running. You can use a program like MSI Afterburner (or something similar) to see what speed your fans are running at. It also lets you control your fan speeds manually, but there is the danger of really messing something up if you don't know what you're doing.

Looking at the pic you posted, I realized you have 980tis. I think that card does run a little hotter than most (it's one of NVDA's largest GPU chips ever). Is it the blower type card or the open fan type? The important thing is the blower card pushes it's heat outside your case, and the open air card dumps its heat inside your case, so you would need more case fans. Neither is really better.

It's funny I got and ordanary fan and just put that at the back and it dropped the temp down. But I will have to take it apart and just give it a good clean and check all the fans. I did use IPDT_Installer_4.1.0.24 the intel processor checker, and got a warning. I also tried putting the CPU on in the Iray config and the 980 Ti never got over 50 Deg it just has to keep going for another week till my new one gets here. I've got an i9 system with a 1080 Ti so that should give me so power to render. I'll have a look at that MSI Afterburner, thanks for advice both the 980 Tis have fans and they are running fine so I'm thinking it's the processor fans the might be the problem !
