Youngsters

I was pleased to see the spread of stuff aimed at the younger male (though alas, I can no longer claim to be one). Quite when I will see them I'm not sure, as I am downloading some alien predators on billboards which will tie-up my computer for the next 24 hours.

Well, I was exited to see Male Build-a-Bundle, but then I saw "Teen". Not usable for hot lovers on book covers. So, no buying, sadly.

The clothing is pretty generic. As is the hair. So I see no reason adults can't wear that. I passed on the teen boys as well, since I really don't render kids.

At any rate, wish there was no female hair, in the bundle.  I honestly, don't need to pay more for female hair I won't use.

Well, honestly, the older "boy" is more like a young man I would gauge at about 18 to 21 so he's a young adult.... got facial hair options and all that... picked him up, the hair, poses and the dForce Boys in the Sun Outfit for Genesis 8 Male(s) cause the pack came with sunglasses!  lol

I kind of thought the one didn't really look like a teen to me either.  More early twenties.

According to the product info, the age they tried to aim for, for each boy :

    Connor - around age 12/13

    Nathanial - around age 16

    Shane - around 18/19

I have to admit I really, really liked that they wrote out which age they had tried to aim for. Than wether one think they have reached their aim or not, is individual I suppose. But for the most part I think they have :) I do like the boys, and might pick them up when I get my money, depending if there is something else that is more important (like food ;P )

I'm not buying the set either but Connor should have been made 7 - 10 and Nathaniel 14 or 15. Nathaniel is missing that awkward gangliness. 16 and 18/19 as ages for them and you can see for yourself Nathaniel and Shane are basically adult men in appearance.

I did pick them up. I do a lot of things that need teens. and having had poor results from the Cayman Studios work around, am needing to rebuild a library of skins. There for a while you could hardly find male skins which didn't have some degree of stubble. But now that fibermesh does it better, one is beginning to find clear skins again.

urgh. should i be happy it's a male product? unf. after monsters, ugly toonies and ancients, now we're blessed with kids/more-or-less "teens"... still waiting for more hot G8 dudes tho, especially an Asian. as in, Lee8 or whatever he's called - if he is released at all before G9F and her chick products tornado is set loose invading the whole place...

    * meanwhile with intergenerational & face morphs and tricks and UV games i created a few of my own (G8M & G7M), but i'm not especially gifted, and made from bits with kinda fitting texturing is still less good than a quality figure with optimized textures & morphs - it SHOWS, and not only at the seams >_< *

The Slosh UV Swap G8M <> G8F product so you can use female skins instead of males skins is a better than the Cayman solutions with is sometimes problemation. Then using Blacksmith 3D Texture Transformer and appropropriate plugins for it for convert M4/V4 / G2F/G2M textures to G3M/G3F and from there they can be use on G8F/G8M.

And for 'clear' 'stubbleless' male skins for G8 the ones from Fred Winkler are nearest.

When I saw him, it immediately made me think of the 'Happy Days' sitcom and of how most of the 'high schoolers' in it looked like they'd passed school leaving age years ago :)

I don't particularly need more teens, but I figure since I'm always seeking new male items, I'd best support them when they come out.  Plus I buy a lot of female characters I don't particularly need, and I get them just because they're cute or whatever, so yup I got them.

Try rendo there's Sixus's Baby for G8F, and Angel_Wings does a gorgeous toddler morph (Amanda) using it for G8F.

Ther's also Luna the Hivewire baby/toddler availble at their store or rendo.

The two older characters look about the same age as the guy I work with (he's 28). He looks younger than 28, but not that young.

From a "german" pov I'd set the ages of these boys at:

    Connor ~10/11
    Nathanial ~14/15
    Shane ~17 to 20

It's something I've noticed in many US movies and TV series' too: US kids often look way younger than their german (or broadly european) counterparts. And it's even more obvious, when the actors playing those "kids" are often even a couple years older than the character they portray. wink

No, I wasn't stating how old I think they look but what makes more sense to have created as ages and the way they look. I think Nathaniel & Shane given my personal experience could be both anywhere from 15 years old to 30 years old in the way those models look, beard or no beard. Connor looks like he can be 10 - 30 really also from people I've known. I live in a state were many horse jockeys ply their trade and have been friends also with bull riders and such when I lived out west in cattle country.

I never really thought of US kids looking younger that European kids but now that you mention it many US kids often have what in US is called baby fat because well they are actually on average fatter. Carrying extra fat does make one look younger, so maybe it's engrained in human psyche to fatter equals younger. I know when I lost 75 lbs last year to get back to my normal weight, many people, even my doctor, complained I was too skinny and looked better when I was fatter. I did look older after having lost that weight. OK then, well, and after I added 15 lbs back on then, what do some of those same people say? "Well, don't wear that you are too fat." Finally I'd had enough and so "No thank you, enough already, I am not going to develop bulimia or anorexia or whatever."

That is likely regional, I think it also depends on where you live and what ethnicity is prominent. Also Hollywood isn’t really representative of American population as a whole.
