Ok i have a female character with a very special skin colour. I want to create a male with the same skin colour.
Can i apply the female skin material to the male and what behaviour can i expect. I imagine the breast/chest area may show some iregularities.
I like to point out that my photoshop skills are prety poor. So while i do know the procedure for colour matching i am unsure if i can get it at a realistic level.

You'd probably want this product: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
It usually works pretty well, though be on the lookout for makeup and lip glossiness.
There's also a G3 version, in case you need to swap a G3 skin: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
Using the female mats on a male figure will give you ugly seams. You'll probably need this. https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
The character comes default without makeup but thanks for the warning. I will have a look at that product.
I use uv-swap for G3 and G8 quite a lot. If you look at my galley page, the 3rd latest render (Sunder & Lightning) and the four renders preceding it all use G3 or G8 female textures (the only exception being the mage with the staff in "Fighter, Mage, Thief"). I always check that there is an unmadeup face texture, but most have them. However, there is almost always a problem with shadowing in the breast area. I fix these in PS, but it is not a very simple or easy job to do invisibly (and have to change several textures). Not a problem if you don't intend to render bare chested males, though, of course.
If you're really interested in getting both G3 and G8 products, they're now offered in the flashsale.
Yeah, get the UV Swap. I use a female texture on one of my characters and don't have any seam issues thanks to that.
With marketplace skins (both male and female) being so insalely different from each other, the only way I can get a couple of people to look compatable together in renders is for them to share the same skins.
So UV Swap is definately the way to go. On some female maps you may have to remove burnt-in under breast shading but at least your characters won't look like chalk and cheese.
Well i added the skin and it kinda worked straight away without the need of the UV filter (which i had not expected, as i have seen the seems before when i fiddled with transgender figures) and the close up render i did didn't look to bad either.
