Question regarding Hair Set for Genesis 8 Male

I am curious wether it is possible to shorten/lengthen the Body hair in this set ( https://www.daz3d.com/hair-set-for-genesis-8-male-s ). I don't see any morphs for that so decided it was better to ask in here, and hope that anyone who has the hair is able to respond to that :)

Short answer is, yes< you can both use the setting called coverage which makes the hair less bushy and there are 4 levels of transparency which also gives the effect of less hair also.  A great product!

Coverage is not shortening or lengthen the hair though, only lessening/increasing the area it covers isn't it? I can't actually make it shorter?

They show the different styles and it's just a few basic classic short men's styles and no substantial length morphs for the hair.

It's sort of ambiguous what coverage can be as that term with hair is generally vaguely referring to how much bare skin is hidden by the hair, even long hair. But often when talking coverage with regards to hair it is meant to talk about how densely hair follicles are grouped and over how wide an area those hair follicle are still working. Male pattern baldness is less coverage. Less coverage means less dense working hair follicles. More coverage for more working hair follicles. Translucency is used to fake that and also whether the hair strands themselves are thin or thick hair strands which can give also an illusion of denser hair follicles distribution or less dense.

*Coverage makes the individual hairs thicker. But yes, the base morphs can be dialed down on at least the torso and back hair. I didn't check the others, but I suspect they are the same. There is an orange morph called Hair Set Torso or Hair Set Back that is default to 1 and you can dial down to shorten the hairs.

    *On this set

That's how I thought coverage meant, how much skin it covered so to say. (@nonesuch00 ) And thansk CC, that does make it more interesting.. now to decide wether to wait or not... *pondering*

Thank you all for the help :)

A different question, but it's about the same hair:

Has anybody an idea how to achieve some realistic looking whitish-grey hair colour for this set? I tried adjusting colours of the different parts of the hair's "black with some sprinkles of grey" shader, that comes with the hair, but only managed to achieve an overall mid-greyish look, that renders  even darker...

When trying other shaders from other hair - and some stuff that at least was of some whitish-grey colour - the result turned out even worse.

So, any ideas except from buying a dedicated hair shader package, for which I don't have a spot in my budget right now?

White is the holy grail of hair shaders :D For this one, try making the Base Color, Translucency Color and SSS Reflectance Tint to a light gray (192, 192, 192) on the load in shader. That will give you a whitish gray without it being too bright or dark (depending on the skin you're using). I don't see the "black with sprinkles of gray" shader with the product in my library though. Each hair piece is a single material zone, so you're not going to get a salt and pepper look if that's what you want unless you make custom material zones. Even a dedicated shader wouldn't do that for this one because of the way it's UV'd. That said, UHT2's whites are excellent (but keep in mind on these hairs it will be solid).

And here I am, thinking I already had tried all possible combinations of setting...

Your tip did the trick, thank you very much yes

For a bit of salt&pepper look I tried using a geoshell with the basic blackish-grey shader from he product, with just Translucency set to 175/175/175 and a low Opacity and the result looks promising, though it takes a bite out of my available GPU memory. Example is Basic G8M with "Old Chap" skin and the geoshell applied to the beard and only the settings given by You for the hair.

That looks pretty decent from greyed hair that was black.
