Changing background color on saving .jpg

I am sure someone has asked but searches have not shown in searches. Is there a way to change the background color of a single rendered object from black or do I need to put an image plane to eliminate that color?

Window>Panes(Tabs)>Environment, set the type to Backdrop and then use the colour picker.
