Bblythe Hair for Genesis 8

I have a question regarding the Bblythe Hair by Kool https://www.daz3d.com/bblythe-hair-for-genesis-8-females?cjref=1&utm_source=cj&utm_medium=affiliate

Some vendors do not indicate which models are used in promo shots. So I am wondering who is in pictures 2,3,5,6,9 (seems to be same model in all of these)

It kind of looks like Lauren or Teen Josie maybe. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks.

Victoria 8 and TJ8 for sure. Others might be a mix of them.

Nothing to do with the character query above, but I just got Bblythe Hair and noticed this rather obvious gap in the hair at the top when viewed from the side. Is there some adjustment morph I'm missing that would fix this, or should I just get a refund?

    Looks like Charlotte 8, I think: https://www.daz3d.com/charlotte-8

At least the skin texture is. Though she does look a tad younger, imo. Might have a younger character mixed in with Charlotte?

I just bought it and thought it looked very nice, thenI looked at it from the side and noticed the same issue.

I've had a similar issue on Bonnie hair by the same vendor.

I just went and put in a ticket for a refund. It's a shame, because other than that flaw, it looks great. I think I'll stick to AprilYSH and OOT for hair from now on.

Went and checked, and it's not just you, I see the flaw too.  I think it's a simple fix though, looks like it's the opacity/transparency map is just a bit sloppy, I'm no expert but playing around right now with altering the map in Gimp to see if I can correct.

Looking forward to hear if it was easy to fix.

Wasn't hard really, but would have been much easier if I had more expertise with transparency maps and gimp.  It took a little while to figure out where the trouble area was on the map, once I had the general spot down I just created a new transparency map that seems to have done the trick.

Well, I suppose an update for this product will follow up.

    Thanks Jonstark.

In a perfect world, but who knows?  Would depend on the vendor seeing this thread and realizing there is a screwup that needs to be corrected or not, my clumsy fix works ok enough for me, and I'm happy to share the trans map I made with anyone else, but it's nowhere near perfect, and the creator himself could provide a much better and cleaner fix.  Might be worth keeping this thread alive so it can be seen til it spurs a fix.  On the other hand, the trouble tickets and refund requests that others have filed on this might spur Daz to reach out to the vendor for a fix too.  It's a good product, shame to not be able to use it just because of a clumsy oversight in the trans map.  :)

Nice work, I would love a copy of the tmap since I have no clue how to correct the original one.

Sometimes when transparency makes the hair look too thin, you can just increast the cutout opacity value above 1. You may need to first click the gear icon and clear the checkbox for use limits. Try 1.5 or even 2.

Well it's far from perfect, but it serves as a workaround:  https://www.sharecg.com/v/91260/view/6/Texture/Trans-Map-for-Bblythe-Hair

Just use it as the opacity map in every part of the hair except the scalp.

As suggested I submitted a tech support ticket, hopefully we'll get a much better transparency map eventually from the vendor that solves this.

Bblythe Hair has been updated, just got it from DIM. There's a new trans map for the hair stands.
