Hi,
Running Filter Forge 7. I'm creating my own glossy maps using their node set up. I have the map how I like it but it's saved with the "Result" node with the default circlethingy transposed over my map. How do I get rid of that overlay? From what I can see this is how my map is going to be exported. Nope, don't like that! HELP!
Thank you!

If I am understanding the situation...
Each filter is different, but on the lower left hand corner there should be a "Settings" tab. Click on that and there should be an option for Source image. That's where the default image is flowing in from.
Some filters will let you blank this to nothing, others may require an image to be there. In which case just create a blank image to point this at.
Ram, you using a filter from the FF library, or one you are putting together yourself? If it is from the library, which one please? If it is one you are hooking one up, you want to PM your .ffxml file (that I might not be able to open because I'm still using verstion 6) or a screen shot of your node network?
Hi,
I was creating my own "support files" using Filter Forge so the partial face is part of the flow for now but I'll check out Jason's suggestion in the morning to see if I can find out how to turn off the Source image. Once that's figured out I'll try to save out the filter without the face map if that's possible. Don't know much about Filter Forge but was very pleased with my results to create a Glossy map filter that I liked.
Usually that exclamation mark thingie appears when you disconnect something height map related that probably, but not necessarily needs to be there...
This can also happen when certain components are removed that need to be there for whatever reason... Mostly I end up seeing it happen when I accidentally disconnect a height component, but it can occur with a lot of set ups...
I think if you take a screenshot of the component set up, it might give a better idea of what was needed or removed.
Ah, good information there. I haven't built many of my own Filters, so I wasn't aware of this.
I have run into the default pictures popping in when I am using FF stand alone and creating a texture file.
I've altered a lot of filters and made a bunch of my own... But I really don't have a great understanding of most of the components and their relations to achieving certain effects.
That filter above is one I made... But I was actually trying to make something else and got totally sidetracked thinking "Wow, it's like robot guts, or Borg bits!" when I saw the results. As a matter of fact, getting sidetracked happens more often than not.
Arrrgh... I just had a "Duh!" moment...
I can't believe I forgot this...
Click on the "Result" component... And in the "Filter Type" box, change it from "Surface" to "Simple Filter"...
Of course thats if it's in "Suface" setting...
That seems more appropriate to what I think you were trying to do.
The "surface" setting is for filters that need bump and normal maps, if you are just going for a more 2D effect, then you don't need the height info, so "simple filter" removes the need for those components and allows for 2D filters.
Very good info there. Thanks so much. Sort of busy this AM setting up my new gaming laptop that arrived yesterday. I'll be using that for the really hot days this summer to continue with my projects and content creation I'm working on in the comfort of my local air conditioned cafe' lol
Just tried your suggestion. The Simple Filter option seemed to work! YAY!
Yay!... I helped someone! I have to see if this counts towards my 6 months community service sentence...
Your always helpful and silly so that makes you fabulous! :-)
