nice
Really nice image, I love the quality of the features and composition.
Edie is still in my cart, so I'm just guessing here: Some of the G8 females are using the Diffuse Overlay for some or all of their makeup options. It's much faster than LIE, but it only shows up when the scene is rendered, or the draw mode is set to Nvidia Iray.
This is also Edie, but I have gone mad with morph sliders.
It's a lovely render. Great smile and lighting! My brain is a bit fuddled by the mix of the 1920's style flapper hair, the pioneer era looking dress and bonnet, and the more modern looking necklace. lol
Really nice
Gawd, Magento sucks so bad. Anything but Magento for heaven's sake... Joomla,
Laurie
For subd, usually 3 or 4 is enough. If you're using the HD morph, I'd use 3 or 4. If you're not you can probably get away with two.

As AllenArt said a SubD of 3 or 4 tends to be all you need for HD. For non-HD I usually don't go above 2. But then again most of the figures I use these days do have HD so I tend to render most of them at level 3. I rarely render above level 3 as it, as you said, can really slow things down going higher.
To get around using the Higher SubD levels, sometimes just upping the Bump Maps and Normal Maps can give a similar look without being quite as hard of a hit to the computer.
Most of the new Daz Official "8" female figures use Diffuse Overlay layers for the makeup (and sometimes the brows as well). Diffuse Overlay only shows up when using the Iray preview.
I wouldn't bother going past 4, and 3 is probably sufficient for portraits.
If the figure is smaller in frame, like a 'medium' range, 1 or 2 is enough.
love the steampunk ensemble make an interesting character
I'm still a noob still trying to work at best settings to get the most out of everything so been probably going over board maxing out subd levels and in render settings turning off time limits turning minimum samples to 0 and max samples to max sometimes somehow going way above max settings and rendering quality from 4 - over 6 few times higher and dimension preset to Ultra HD UHD 16:9 3840 x 2160, then other times I just go by defaults cause don't feel like waiting so long and my computer gets HOT as well as the internal fans I have sevaral external fans set up around it to try and keep it cool. I just wanna try and get as much detail as I can though like you see so many others get
A litte late in the game. Here's a quick render.
50% Edie 50% Alexandra. I thought I use a low key 3 point light system to bring out some interesting elements.
Mountain Daylight Time: Right now it is only 8:45 am and I think they don't even start work ubtil 9 am
Wow! What a beautiful piece. Excellent work. It just goes to show how well Edie blends with other morphs.
@Valkeerie I love that portrait! Nice work! :)
I finally got another chance to render another Edie character. This is the Grandmother for Edie 8. I really like this character.
You can try rendering out at the "max" settings that you sometimes render with and then lower the settings and render the same scene - then compare the too. Sometimes the quality difference is so minimal that it's not worth adding a TON of render time to a scene. But if the quality is quite noticeable, then the higher settings might be warranted. I'd recommend doing a side by side comparison though.
I used to render super high and the renders took ages. Lower the settings gave a very minimal quality difference but the render time was much faster. You might try different settings and see the differences (if there is any). :)
I'm not a G8 buyer but I had to give in for Edie 8 - especially with the coupon today. However, I made a big boo-boo on the purchase. I was checking out the product page and clicked on the HD Add-on to see what it included. I must have forgot to click back and instead clicked purchase. Turns out I have only purchsed the Add-on which is automatically included with Edie 8 for no extra cost. I now have the HD add-on but no Edie 8 :(
I logged a ticket but I suspect that I will lose my coupon discount which is even more annoying because I bought Dorothea on the same order (same coupon) so I may lose that discount as well. Dammit - so annoyed!
Edie as well as the grandmother hd add on character in the back
Happy Mothers Day Lingerie 2018
have done side by sides of same renders like that but in some there does look like I could have gotten away with lower settings and vice versa some could've gotten more out of higher settings bit of a mixed bag sometimes
Hmmm I've not heard of them taking away a coupon discount. They'll likely just refund you the purchase cost of the HD add-on. :)
I hope so .. well, actually, I'm hoping they amend the order to Edie 8 instead of just the HD Add-on (which is no use without Edie 8, of course). I'm sure they will be sensible enough to see what I intended to order.
a video in iClone 6
ANGELREAPER1972 I love your lingere render, but my catalogues in the letter box don't look like that!
Just in case someone doesn't check the other markets, AliveSheCried has brought out a set of dialspin characters based on Edie over on Rendo.
And, yes, they're dial spins. One *could* probably stumble into some of them on one's own. But the thing about dial spin collections is that they go off in all sorts of directions that you didn't realize you wanted to go. And this is a very useful set of a dozen new starting points for building character actors.
