Greetings all.
I haven't been here in years. I'm still working with V4 and DS3 and DS4 4.8.0.59. I see some hairs for genesis I'd like to use on V4. Is this possible?

Which version of Genesis did you want to use the V4 hair on? I think Genesis 1 comes with a Victoria 4 clone - so you should be able to use the V4 hair and clothing on G1.
If you want to use V4 hair and clothing on Genesis 2 Female, you could use this product: https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
If you want to use V4 hair and clothing on Genesis 3 Female, you could use this product: https://www.daz3d.com/wear-them-all-autofitting-clones-and-clothing-smoothers-for-genesis-3-female-s
If you want to use V4 hair and clothing on Genesis 8 Female, you could use this product: https://www.daz3d.com/sy-genesis-8-clones-for-genesis-3
Welcome back, by way! :D
EDIT - Ohhh I think I misunderstood. I thought you meant using your V4 content on the fewer figures. To use Genesis hair on V4, I have no idea. Maybe try loading the hair into the scene with nothing selected and then "parent" the hair to V4's head? :)
The thing is, I haven't bought the hair yet and won't if I'm unable to use them on V4. An example of the hair below.

Yeah, as far as I know, the only way to use the newer hair on V4 is to parent the hair to V4's head. I could be wrong on that, as I don't have much experience with V4.
I highly recommend the newer figures. The few times I've used V4 I've seen a huge difference in how the V4 figures pose and look compared to the newer generations. Particularly in the bends. There has been a lot of advancement in the technology since V4, and the figures look a lot more realistic now, imo. :)
Having said that though, the couple times I did use V4, I got some really nice results (imo). One of my favorite renders is one I did with V4:
She's actually using a Genesis 2 hair here - I just parented it to her head and did some manual adjustments in the parameters tab to get it to fit just right. I didn't take too much time though. :)
I still prefer the newer figures though, as I think they look quite a bit more realistic. I had to do some minor post work adjustments to the above render to make her bends look a bit more natural and realistic. I don't have to do that kind of post work with the newer figures. I definitely recommend trying the newer figures. :)
It's possible to use a lot of v4 content on Genesis and G2F, with GenX2 and http://www.sharecg.com/v/73633/view/21/DAZ-Studio/UVSetterGen2-Revised
I just can't get into the Genesis characters. They look manly to me and the morphs didn't make them look any better. I will always render V4.
Thanks for the tip about parenting. Hopefully, I can use these hairs.
I do not wish to use V4 content on Genesis. I wish to use Genesis content for V4.
What you can do to test it out before spending any money is to check out the Poser and Daz Freebie wiki: https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page
You might be able to find some freebie hair there for some of the newer Genesis figures and see if you can figure out the best method for using it on V4. If you're comfortable with the Parenting thing with a freebie hair or two then you might make the leap to purchasing some of the newer hair products to use on V4? :)
Thanks!
The thing is, with GenX you can have V4 (and most V4 morphs) in all the genesis figures up to G3, that way you can use any content with it.
As for hair, parenting is the way to go. If you can't get the fit just right, then apply a smoothing modifier to the hair and set the collision to whatever figure you are using and you will get a snug fit.
No problem. One of my favorite free hair is this one: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=77151
It's for Genesis 3, but it should work the same way as any other Genesis hair when fitting it to V4. Just load it to the screen with V4 in the default position (and nothing in the scene actually selected in the scene tab). Once the hair is loaded into the scene you can manipulate it into place and Parent it to the V4's head.
I hope you post some renders! I'd love to see your work with V4. It's been a while since I've seen someone who exclusively works with V4 and does new work with her. :)
I parented this hair to V4 and then posed her. As you can see, the included morphs, as they are, do not allow you to move the hair enough to fix the issues.
If you go into the property settings for each morph and manually adjusted the max settings, you do get some improvement, but the braids deform towards the bottom.
under edit rigging make V4 weightmapped
use the transfer utility on the hair after shaping it to fit and converting to a prop
you also could leave it a figure and use a clone shape
save as a support asset and it should load on a legacy V4 too
not a great example video as I was doing it for use in Carrara
it works in DAZ studio BTW but have a few issues converting some dual quarternian stuff to general weights for Carrara
