Updating MetaData while rendering?

Never saw this before. Maybe it's a new thing, maybe it's not.

But it looks like DS was able to update metadata for something in the middle of a render.

Is this even possible?

    And the weirdly, 20 minutes later, the iterations are almost doubled, but the % done is still the same at 67%

    Yes, the history list will show Connect operations that happen to be going on at the same tiem as the render.

    There's no necessary link between iterations and convergence, the percentage done is measuring the latter (how close the image is to the convergence ratio).
