The issue with the dForce Woodland Spirit Outfit should be fixed now or soon, check for updates.

Anyone having issues downloading the textures for the Muse Dress?  It is failing to install from DIM for me. It's a huge file, 602.1mb.

    Thanks.

I just want to clarify something. When I made Edie (and Ollie) I was working from a very specific place of admiration towards artists I enjoyed in my younger years, like Jim Henson, Brian Froud, and many others of their time, who make faeries and otherwise charicatured works of more elder looking otherworldly people. There wasn't an intent to create a realistic "ugly old person".

Aha!!  Maybe that's why I love them both immediately.  I adore Jim Henson's and Brian Froud's work. Instant purchase...

YES, I thought that too! I was hoping for a Wicked Witch of the West outfit. (Although probably easy to kitbash if you have a lot of content.) Now we just need a melt morph!

Ooooh! A melt-morph - that would be great!  I'm thinking Brian Froud's Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairies.  LOL!

Using dForce on the figure herself might work for "melting" ;)

I can't figure out how I got a 44% discount for the Pro Bundle That's an odd number since the discounts were all even numbers, right?  Course I'm awful at math.

Dicount multiply, ie you apply the first one, then the second one on the remainder, on so on.

So for example if you have 30% intro discount and 30% PC discount, you pay 70% of (70% of total price), so 49% of total price, so your discount is 51% off.

In your case you had 30% off for buying 2 add-ons, then 20% off for the banner. So you pay 0.8 * 0.7 * price = 0.56 * price, which means 44% off the price.

LOL, see, that's why there's ppl like you to help solve math for dummies like me!!  Thanks so much :)

    and Your Little Dog Too

This was an exercise in the surface tab for me.  Unfortunately I could not get the hat dark enough to my liking.

Hahah...I love her, ItsCEO! How are you doing the skin?

I'm working on a Magrat - I think I've got a good base so far. Magrat is a Terry Practchett character from the Discworld books. Basically a witch who's not so good at witching, and gets stuck making the older witches tea all the time because she's the youngest. Her name was supposed to be Margaret but her mother messed it up. So now she's a Magrat. Always a bit daft, unfairly, one thinks.

I'll have to do the belt in post once I decide on a final pose. It's not playing well with the skirt. Might need a bit more blonde in the hair too. Still a lot of work but it's a start.

We need a Discworld people contest using Edie & Ollie!

Ok, time for some sleep. I hope you guys post some renders! :)

Once I purchased her, I downloaded Edie and HD add on first and then left DIM to slowly work through the long list. I popped some hair and clothing from my runtime on her and rendered her using Pro Studio HDR. I didn't spend any real time on setting her up because ... well, I couldn't wait, lol. I'll try harder next time, I promise :-)

    She is somehow beautiful.

    Am I normal, doctor?laugh

Seriously, in a DAZ world of topmodels and teenage beauties, characters like Edie and Alexandra are some kind of fresh air.smiley

On the surfaces tab I changed the Base Color and Translucency colors of her skin to lime green colors.  I also turned down some glossiness on her skin there.  Basically just fiddled around alot on that tab until I got something ok.

I (fondly) remember Magrat!  Looking forward to seeing her completed - but looks pretty good already!

    Aye...getting there!

I'm doing the same on the dress. The shader is great for the color, but I don't think her dress would be so shiny. I turned a lot of things down but it's not quite there.  I may go back and go through Esha's shader tutorial again to see if that helps. Her tutorials are fantastic.

Does the hat have a diffuse image? Maybe that's why it won't go darker for you. Might try just knocking that out altogther and putting a different pre-set shader on it, depending on what you have in your library?

    Nice start on Magrat :)

Her hair should probably be a bit messier (and indeed blonder) IMO, and she needs way more sliver jewelry and trinkets ;)

And I love the idea of a Discworld people contest.

Firstly, this is indeed a beautiful render.

Secondly, I completely agree with you - Edie is a beautiful figure and she definitely adds something to the Genesis 8 line that was sorely needed.

Having fun mixing 50% Edie with other morphs and textures.

I think she ads something interesting and mature to fantasy characters that were, up till now, very cutesy (which I like too) but this is their queen.

And I love Stella Hair! Much more than I thought I would...

i see the 50% of Edie and someone else, but my mixes surely don;t seem to come out the same. they still look more like Edie.

I use several different morphs, a lot, so maybe they overpower Edie a bit, but 50% of her is definitely still there!

Another Edie at 50% and this time Nose Long at 50% plus a bunch of different morphs. She definitely adds to the gene pool!

I find the HD thing funny because people have REPEATEDLY complained about Daz releasing characters with an additional HD product.

So Daz releases it together... and gets complaints again.

    Poor Daz. ;)

To be fair I have seen many MANY people asking for the HD to be added to the base price of a figure, and I've seen only ONE person complain when they do include it. I don't really think you can count one person's comment as "complaints". lol :)

It's nice to get it included free for a short period, especially on an older character.

Thanks again for Altern8 and the swift update :-)

    There was an update?

I mixed Edie with Charlotte and reduced the size of hands and feet and nose. I like her a lot. Some of the lipstick is awfully garish, though. The bright pink I used in the full length render was replaced with a darker toned down selection in the closeup. I needed the Scene Optimizer to render her in GPU.

I'm downloading Edie now, and I can see why this needed Scene Optimizer. The Muse Dress has 8K textures by default, and no other options. The base dress texture is over 22 MB, even the bumps are that size. To contrast, none of Edie's skin textures are over 5 MB. It is nice looking dress, but 8K might be a bit overkill. The file size of the dress is larger than Edie's file, even when you include the Edie HD add on. I am fine with having 8K textures, that's a nice option for people who want ultra HD size renders, but for many people that is just too high for their VRAM. It really should have preset options to swap between 2K, 4K and 8K textures.

So I am going to create resized textures and save them as a material preset for this dress. Anyone who is limited by VRAM should do this, and even if you don't think of yourslef as VRAM limited it is stil a good idea to optimize as will reduce render times..I don't have Scene Optimizer, I'm thinking about getting it.

Thank you @Barzoff and @DimReaper , she has such beautiful eyes that speak volumes - real character. I’m busy working on something else at the moment and I’m really disappointed that I can’t do more with her more just yet. I haven’t even looked at everything else I bought.

I used Scene Optimizer and just getting rid of displacement helped a lot although I didn't even notice if there was displacement before, maybe on the wreath? But when I rendered, it was all blown out white, may have had to do with my lights but I've never seen something that blown out so I added grey to the diffuse map slot and made a few other adjustments, I think reducing gloss and reflectivity. Maybe it was meant to be really shiny but that just comes out bright white with lights...

Compared to about 90% of the other figures around this one looks more like a real person than them.

Wasn't it "hair like a haystack..." or something like that? It always made me think of "disheveled" and "blond-ish"

Oh, and we would definately need one of Magrat in her "Warrior Queen Ynci" armour outfit... the one that would show way too much cleavage if there was anything to be shown... cheeky

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll have to pass for now. I am finding more and more addons to be way to resource intensive lately. There should be a requirement for PAs to develop on mid level systems instead of the latest and greatest. As a gamer I used to think the latest games were there to push the limits of my system, now I kow better..
