Edie 8 is beautiful and in my wishlist but I do not have a green banner. What do you get the discount for?

Well because I jumped on the bandwagon too early I now have a useless 20% discount voucher.. As I paid $58.41 and I could of gotten it down to $46.72 if that thank you voucher had shown up when I bought the items..  Ah well another lesson learned, not to jump into buying something too quickly..

Grandma HD "out of the box" except I lowered her Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity as she was a bit too shiny for my taste.

I love Edie.  I love the add on products.  I love the additional range of age, body details, and skin imperfections offered by Edie, Ollie, and other recent releases.  Two enthusiastic thumbs up. yesyes

    I am now broke.  sad

    (PS - the discounts worked)

You can contact customer support regarding that, tell them the discount didn't worked/hadn't arrived when you bought the bundle. They usually try to help as much as they can in these situations :)

I guess I feel weird about Edie. It seems strange to me that the first truly older female base is sort of a caricature and portrayed as an object of humor. I doubt it’s intended to be intentionally awkward but it seems a bit... uncomfortable to me.

Those were exactly my feelings when I saw her. An old woman, automatically portrayed as a hag and a creature of fantasy (as if old women don't exist in reality!). I like her a lot and will probably end up buying her at some point, but I'm just not wildly keen on what's been done with her. It's reminds me of when Monique 6 was portrayed as a voodoo queen when she was launched.

    Thanks for understanding.

Thank you, Divamakeup! :-) She is a fun character, and you can turn her into anything in your renders. She can be serious or a comical one. I love that pose, btw. ;-)

Pix Tilwig for Edie 8 "out of the box" with her "Brows 02" setting:

    ADORABLE character! Well done, Pixeluna!

That Fantasy Woodland Hair is a riot too! lol

Hold on before contacting CS, let us see if Daz is going to do an automatic fix for people who purchased before the discount was fixed. If you aren't seeing the correct discount (if you have the banner you should see a price drop with just Edie 8 Pro in the cart) please try logging out and back in, if that doesn't fix it post so we can follow up with Daz.

  • Edie 8 looks like the female counter to Ollie 8, but she also seems more than a cartoonish counterpart.  This is the type of character that Daz should continue to do.  This is a definite buy for me.

Cheers have just done that, will see what happens, though unfortunately even though useless I accidently clicked the big X button and now that banner has gone bye bye.. :(

As someone who prefers toons, comics, clipart, and caricatures, I'm a little uncomfortable that Daz or the PAs get criticized if they cater to my tastes before they cater to hyper-photo-real tastes.

I don't know, I'm Black and I loved the Voodoo theme for Monique and Darius.  As for the hag concept, I see that there is a need for an old lady character to fill that hag role in fantasy renders.  But they aslo included a very well done grand mother type in Dorothea and the other grandmother morph set. I'm getting her as soon as I can fill up my cart with other stuff

Click the little person icon at top right, then Messages, then it's the second group that has most of the banner messages.

  • I had a really nice render at 100% and when I went to save it Daz crashed. Kind of mad. The Crashing issues lately have been really a pain in the tush.

If your video card drivers crash anywhere in the render they'll recover, but the program will not.  It will complete the render r-e-a-l-l-y slowly, but you can't save it - the program has essentially already crashed.  Best thing to do if you get the video driver crash message is shut down DAZ at that point and restart it.

Ahh thank you for that, never knew that was there.. lol But still in the same position as still unusable since it came in after I bought the products, sent in a ticket though not sure there is much that can be done..

I don't have any use for the character itself, but thank you for the dForce fantasy outfits. We definitely need more of them.  :)

The extra reduction (20% off for buyers of several previous Genesis 8 pro bundles) now applies correctly.

I just want to clarify something. When I made Edie (and Ollie) I was working from a very specific place of admiration towards artists I enjoyed in my younger years, like Jim Henson, Brian Froud, and many others of their time, who make faeries and otherwise charicatured works of more elder looking otherworldly people. There wasn't an intent to create a realistic "ugly old person".

I think you nailed it :) Ollie and Edie are my new favorite Daz characters. They are very clearly fantasy-based IMO, though the element of caricature is also very useful for infusing realism into other characters.

It took me a little bit to warm up to Ollie, but I think both he and Edie are awesome-looking.

I thought so, but then I wasn't quite sure. The look seems different.

Since you say "Plat club", did you use the PC coupon on that cart? If so, that the usual "PC coupon does not work well with bonus free items" problem.
