Love is love! Thank you val3dart!

I haven't seen many products that are so firmly LGBTQ+. I know it's something we're able to do with poses ourselves, but the message is lovely and greatly apprecaited that DAZ would put this on the store.

I will definitely be picking this up, and I really hope to see more inclusive and diverse characters, pose packs and anything else further down the line!

Thank you Val3dart <3

I picked this up this morning. Love it.

  • I echo the sentiments. Considering, up until this point, Rendo was the only place to find such pose sets (and before that, well... adult sites), this is a huge step forward for Daz's store and I hope this means there'll be more same-sex content inclusion in this store in the future.

I know I gripe and critique pretty frequently, but credit where credit is due.

I haven't really tried gay couple poses but they are absolutely awesome!

Daz store does have a few . I think the earliest was a v4 and steph4 pose set....by muscleman?   there are numerous mostly female friendship pose sets and two male/male friendship sets, the last one notably by Javier.  Who is also an excellent figure creator.

Feralfey it should be noted has made gender interchangeable poses as well for a while. Including a male/male superhero pose set.

I guess those friendship poses need a little tweaking to make them appear like couple in love poses.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,704

I think that’s a matter of perception. It depends on what you want your couple to be doing, some of them are quite romantic looking. wink

I think the point here being that it isn't labeled friendship, it's loud and proud love. The statement is bigger and more important than the actual pose set in a way, because you're right it was achievable before. It's a really cute pose set and I'm happy to see the promo shot on the store.

It may seem trivial but feeling included and seeing yourself represented, in any form of media, feels great.

  • Considering that Daz figures have "anatomical parts"  don't get your hopes up for anything gay....

Oh I understand, it’s nice to be openly recognized.

??? The pose set in question has gay poses.

If anyone was wondering why LGBT content has largely been relegated to adult site ghettos when it comes to DS/Poser stuff, it's because of attitudes like this. :/

Ooh, thanks for pointing these out.  I'm not much for romantic images but I'll find a use for these poses if it encourages more LGBT sets that aren't straight from "Them Mud Wrestlin' Bad Girls of Cell Block C."

They’re really cute, I may never use them, but I support what the artist is doing, so I picked them up.

The kisses are really cute and romantic, I especially like the way their hands are entwined. It didn’t feel overly sexualised, which is what can happen sometimes...

Hopefully the sales are showing support of this, but also wanted to say thanks for these pose sets. Any poses that have two or more figures in contact with each other are super tough to do well, so I tend to buy them anyway, but also wanted to get these on principal. While I know there are some borderline examples in the store that I have gotten, it is very nice to see a set that isn't marketed as "brothers playing around", "best guy friend" type sets.

One other thing I wanted to mention, and not to take away at all from this product or the store, but there have been same-sex romance pose sets for sale at Renderosity, which is hardly an "adult site". It is definitely great to see products, and marketing, like this at more places.

That was mentioned at the top of the thread. Everyone's just happy that DAZ is finally coming around.

He probably meant in a more sexual way in stead of romantic. But renderotica has plenty of gay poses almost equaly as much as lesbian poses.

I think its great that poses are made less and less gender specific (Except the graphical and more sexual ones of course). Only thing missing now is interchanging G3 with G8 :)

For sure, and that's actually a really tasteful and endearing set of poses too!

I was also delightfully surprised by this dress for Genesis 8 Male going into the marketplace here as well — it's actually perfect for drag queen renders:

And... even though this one was just on April Fools day, The Bearded Lady (for Genesis 3 Female) was actually pretty cool too; reminded me of Conchita Wurst (Tom Neuwirth)...

Yeah, I mentioned about Aeris19's poses at Renderosity, and I know at least one other content creator (Farconville) had some "clean" poses for M4.

But on the whole, anything remotely same-sex related had, up until this point, been banished to adult sites like R'otica because of attitudes (if not ignorance) that automatically equate same-sex love to the pornographic. Which you can see displayed at least once in this thread. Males have it the worst, because lesbians are, unfortunately, fetishised by straight males, so of course the "Them Mud Wrestlin' Bad Girls of Cell Block C"-esque "friendship" poses for female characters tend to be more widely accepted than, say, two guys holding hands.

And as others have stated, yes, you can adapt poses to different characters. But when you have to spend twice as long to fix the impossibly broken-looking spines of a female pose to look halfway decent on a male figure... it's nice to have something that looks natural.

And as I've stated many times in the past: representation matters. Such stuff has been treated like a joke in the past on Daz's end of things (i.e. the Freak 4's tutu), but I'm hopeful this is the start of them treating LGBT material just as normal as the Male/Female stuff they have on this site. The fact they didn't choose to release Fisty and Darc's G8M dress as an April Fools joke and instead treated it like a regular release is huge, too.

Dirk: You are entitled to your opinions and beliefs. However, to echo what others have said in other threads about content one doesn't like, you simply vote with your own wallet.

there is nothing wrong or right, they are just affectionate poses and can involve any bipedal figure human, alien, monster anthropomorphic.

it is good the promos show diversity

it is a pity there are not many family poses or more importantly to me animated poses of parents of opposite or same sex, alien, lizard people, single whatever playing, flying a kite etc doing normal activities with their kids cubs, spawn too, thats an area sorely missing,

Hah, yeah, you've got a point there. I think the lack of parent-child/family poses is in large part due to there not being a dedicated kid figure, like there was with Kids 4. You can find a ton of poses for V4-M4-K4, but past Genesis 2... not so much. Maybe some mother & daughter poses for Victoria and Josie, but that's about it. But that's probably better saved for another thread entirely.

In an ideal world, there'd be pose sets for every possible combination of figures for any kind of situation. That's not the case, but at the very least, Daz showing some receptivity to same-sex couples poses that aren't hidden under the code words of "friendship" is a good sign IMHO.

I can't wait to see some renders! =-) One thing I noticed is the M/M poses are all for standing couples. With one kind of leaning, sitting on a wall pose. The M/F seem to have the most sitting ones for some reason.

  • You should be able to slap a pose made for one gender onto the other gender, assuming the same generation of model and all that. The bones are the same, and unless you're using the exact shape of character involved in the original pose, you're subtly reposing things anyway.

Having it show up in Smart Content is helpful.

Actually, if Daz would just strip out gender from Poses, that would be helpful.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,704

Many of us who make and use same sex poses have already been using opposite gender poses for characters of a different sex for some time however it is nice not to have to.  smiley

Using female poses for men is possible but not ideal for me due to the excessive back bends and exaggerated limb and hand positions they use for the ladies. But yes you can make it work.

The point though is that people who want samesex couple poses should be able to buy them and it’s nice to be able to buy them here.

Male and Female figures used to use the same base figure (Generation 4), so posing (and morph dialing) between them for a complete spectrum of gender was much easier... but there were definitely downsides to that approach.

It's nice to have poses that are combinations of feminine, masculine, and even gender neutral.

These poses appear to be amazing, I'll definitely be considering a purchase when payday hits. The promos are AMAZING @val3dart

Although the generation four figures (Victoria and Michael 4) used the same base mesh their rigging was not the same and it's the latter that matters for poses. The comment would be somewhat applicable for the original Genesis (which would be Generation 5).

Hello Everyone!! Thanks A LOT for all the love and support that you have been given us. We are very proud to be part of this new acceptance and recognition that’s coming around in Daz to the LGBTQ+ community. At first, we hesitated because we didn’t know if the pack was gonna be accepted given there was nothing like it. Like you guys have stated before, there are same-sex couple but always sugar coating it with friendship or some other diminishing word. The message intended was romantic love, respect, and inclusion. It makes us really happy to see this kind of response.

Also, sorry for the super late reply, it has been crazy around here for us. Now that we know how much it was needed and hoped for, we will be releasing more of this content. Lots of love for all those who took the time to write here/buy the set, and of course to Daz that let it all happen.

I'm another of the ones who was waiting for this kind of poses, it's in my ASAP  wishlist, I have characters who just are dying to try them. I would also suggest new sets with a little more passionate attitude; I'm not meaning pornographic, bute I guess you all know how it is when things are growing HOT and the next thing you'll do is start tearing dresses away... cheekydevilkiss

Seems to me that there is a HUGE MASSIVE audience for same-sex relationship art and stories when I look through the Manga sections of bookstores.  And apparently most of the artists and audience for male/male relationship art is female.  And they're willing to pay $20 per comic book, and even when there are multiple volumes in a series.
