It's BACK!!! (The Expanse Season 2)

Just watched the season premier of The Expanse.  Looks like it will be a good season.

I met one of the lead designers for Weta, and we had a few laughs.  The show definitely has a good visual image.  Once of things I objected to was that they didn't enforce body types for the various factions... It should have been tall, skinny, no hair in the belt, militant hair, and fit for Mars, and long hair, and frumpy for Earth.  He said that they tried to convince the producers, but they felt otherwise.

You mean season 3 right?  Season 2 was excellent, but it was last year.  Also the battle for Thoth station is the greatest sci-fi set piece I've seen in any medium, imo.

Eh, they did generally try to make the Belters skinnier than the other factions, and many of them have that signature belter hairstyle and of course OPA tattooes, it's good enough of a general visual reference I can pick them apart from the others most of the time.  I think it's funny that the actor for Fred Johnson has such a squat body type, very much screams visually 'this guy is an earther' in every scene in contrast to the belters who he works with.  Determining the differences between martians and earthers is tougher.  I don't care much for Bobby, but then I didn't think she was very realistic in the books either, sort of the 'Brienne' character type, for no particular good reason, but in the show it makes me cringe when a marine refers to herself as a 'soldier'.  Yikes.  But altogether, the errors are few and completely forgivable, they're sticking close enough to the book storyline that they haven't screwed things up beyond recognition like some other shows lately have done (cough, cough, Altered Carbon... d*mn you Netflix for degrading one of my favorite novels ever in the service of sjw idiocy... oh and thanks Spielberg for dumbing down another of my favorite sci-fi novels to the point that it now should be subtitled 'the moron's guide to the idiot version of Ready Player One'... grumble grumble)
