Making Daz studio figures "posable" in manga studio 5
in The Commons
Alright so I've scoured for videos about this topic, over, and over again but I can't seem to find a step by step source on how to do it. My plan is to make base models with muscle detail in DazStudio, and then put them into Manga Studio 5/Clip Paint to edit their positions and use them to draw over. Problem is, when I load it in MS the movements are like rubber, like there are no bones. Can someone tell me how to add a skeleton to the daz studio figures or at least tell me how to get them to be able to pose within MS5?

Given the Smith Micro/Poser relationship that Manga Studio/Clip Paint has (had?), I would *guess* that your DAZ exports will have to be either OBJ or somehow more Poser compatible (or at least less DAZ Studio specific) to accomplish what you are hoping to do. The latest Genesis figures are very non-Poser compatible (without going through hoops) in terms of geometry models, UV mapping, and other technologies used.
One possible option would be to use the older Mil4 (M4/V4/K4) family, or perhaps the earlier Genesis figures to generate your poses/muscle morphs before somehow importing into MS5.
Again, I'm guessing here, but since Genesis1 arrived, Poser and DAZ Studio figures have become less and less compatible technologies, and Smith Micro/Poser was the owner or primary dealer for Manga Studio for a couple of years, so their support would certainly have been more Poser-Figure-Centric. M4/V4 were probably designed more for Poser than DAZ Studio, but a lot has changed since then.
You may be able to try some of the other DAZ Studio export options (OBJ/FBX/Collada/???) and see if those import more properly into MS5. Maybe someone else can help you there.
Let us know what you learn and if you can get anything to work!

Carrara renders to a PSD file format, natively, and also has a Toon setting naturally which may be helpful. Clip will open PSD files natively
You could use Carrara and up to genesis 2 by default or with Misty's modified Gen 3 and 8 available elsewhere See Carrara Forums.
Set up your scene, lighting ect then render to PSD then open the PSD in Clip Studio.
Depending on the items used lyou could set it up in Daz Studio save as a duf, Open in Carrara May need to tweek shaders if they are important then render out as PSD.
If you a a Platinum member Carrara constantly goes on sale I heard that during March Madness it was down to about $30.
If you are not it may be worth it for a 3 month subscription.
