Daz Studio won't save Material Presets or save icon renders or Figure Assets. PLEASE HELP.

I am trying to save some material presets for an item I have made, but for some reason it is not saving the information in the Material preset file or the icon file. They are both empty.  Ordinary renders are OK. 

I also cannot save any item as a figure asset either, It just throws up an error message.

These all worked fine a few weeks ago.

I have tried 4.8 and 4.10 but nothing seems to work.

Please can someone help me as I cannot finish any items until this problem is sorted.

    Have you tried using a different save location (for the assets, a different base directory from the drop down at the top of the options dialogue)?

    I'm not sure but I think the problem may be that I am running out of space on my external drive. I managed to save an asset onto the desktop OK so I don't think it's not a problem with Daz.
