Buzludzha Monument aka Abandoned Event Complex

Greetings,

It is rare that I take a look at a new product and I instantly know the source.  This, however, is right up my alley.  I'm a huge fan of 'ruin' pictures, and this is one of the more epic real world ruins.

I love it, and the artist (Merlin Studios) has done an amazing job of adapting it to 3D.  That it's so instantly recognizable as to its inspiration is a statement of how well they built it.  It's a great set, and an absolute must buy both in 'clean' and 'ruin' form.  It can, of course, be used as a stand-in for the real ruin, but it can also be on an alien planet, with orange snow and a strikingly unearthly starscape visible through the twisted ruins of the ceiling.

Ruins tell the tale of a civilization.  What they valued, what they built to last, and ultimately what befell them.  What broke down their places, and what became of them.

I love seeing pieces like this in the market.  I also want the clean Event Complex as a place to put an entertainer, putting on a show, a need which I just recently had.  Thank you Merlin Studios for these sets!

Awesome find! I love stuff like this. I would have guessed it was an old Olympic venue. This looks like a model where I could waste a whole afternoon just panning the camera around looking at stuff.

sort of reminds me of what Weena and the Eloi lived in in the original 1960 version of "The Time Machine" ;)

  • Neat.  Since I tend towards Time Travel stories in my comics, having a new and ruined version of the same building is always welcome.  Didn't take long to plop this pair in the cart.

And the original is still my favorite, though I do like the one with Guy Pierce too :)

This reminds of that awful Jason Statham movie, Mechanic: Resurrection.

Anway, thank god for ghost lights. I don't see why anyone would need to load all 197 point lights this product uses.

...well, if you work in 3DL, you load the 197 point lights.

Yeah everybody sees their character(s) visiting a long gone race and only this broken architecture remains.

All I know is, an important conversation must be had among these ruins.

...in my case it was once a performance venue that was damaged during the invasion.

I also bought this - it will be an extension of the Division Academy for mage-training in my comic.

    Thank you, Merlin Studios! heart

Anyone have ideas on how they're going to fill those seats?

    Billboards?

    LoRes Figures

    Post?

    LOAD_THE_MEMORY_TO_MAX?

Instances, and only placing people where the camera looks at. Composition renders, too. Billboards also seem a good idea, and running your figures through Scene optimizer.
