Jagged Skin Patch

IceScribeIceScribe Posts: 694

I really like Gail for Genesis 8. But I wanted to try my new purchase of Legacy V4 UVs to Genesis 8. It is really set up to be a simple procedure. I used the Uber environment 2 in 3Delight, and used the Uber shader on the hair and arches. The V4 product is Tamesin Modern Muses. I did a small bit of morphing on the face but none on the body. It looks like the jagged patch is where the geo graft areas are in the Legacy UV product.How can I fix that in the render? Post work smoothing on another layer doesnt work, and neither does clone brush. Rendering done in 3D, because in Iray, the face is a hideous black mask.

    Sorry, I don't see whatever you're seeing. However I've attached 3 renders of Gail and don't see any skin issues there either.

    @fastbike1, thank you for taking a look. A larger image pops up when the thumbnail is clicked, which shows the zig-zag roughness on the upper arm where it should be smooth from the light fading into shadow. I hope that is a large enough view. Also, this is not the default Iray skin of Gail, it is a V4 character, Tamesin, which is applied to the Gail figure with the utility Legacy V4 UVs for Genesis 8, and because it it V4, it needs 3Delight rendering to look right.

    I should clarify my question, which is how do I make the legacy V4 skin smoother and more shade-transitional over the Legacy geo-graft?

    Can't help you with that. I haven't found any reasons to go back to 3DL, nor do any of the hundred or so V4 skins that I have strike me as better than G3F or G8F skins.

    @fastbike1

    thank you for suggesting the Iray conversion. It may solve my problem (or, make it worse). The few V4 skins I want to use on G8 are among my favorites. I prefer less thick applications of makeup, which hasn't been made yet for G8, but I like the HD detailing, and more realistic expressions the G8 provides. Your renders of Gail are quite lovely. I'll probably render her in Iray anyway. I just didn't expect a snag with the new Legacy utility.

    Update, and resolution: I noticed the "Base Bump" was set at 3.0, so I selected the upper arm which actually included part of the upper torso, neck and back of head for this V4 skin, and re-set the Base Bump to 1.50 and did a quick render. Happily, this lowering of the bump seemed to smooth out the upper arm graft join. I guess the bmp was picking that up into the render. I don't know. It just looks so much better. Hope this helps others with similar problem.
