Look into this a little further if this is truly your belief. This is not a "monotheistic" thing.
Monty Python had a history of poking fun at religion. It featured prominently in ALL their big movies. "The Meaning of Life" poked fun at Catholicism and Heaven, "Holy Grail" was all about poking fun at religious quests and archaic thinking, and "Life of Brian" took jabs at almost all elements of Christianity.
Now imagine someone trying to make similar movies today, but about Muslim beliefs. They'd never even reach the Theater.
Well thats different. Its a specific article of faith for many not to make images of Mohammad. It's not ironic, it's purposeful blasemphy, But otherwise you're right, a character like a Jesus 8, outfitted with guns attacking whoever, is going to come out immediately. You can do it now, with Michael 8 in a robe. And in fact anyone can make any sort of offense imagry with available products. Basic TOS and good taste makes those harder to find - or at least I don't seek them out so have been sheltered from them, perhaps. Or just maybe those are rare because if you have the ability to produce such images, you might have the good sense and good taste not to.
This is getting off the question and into discussion about religion.
No one has mentioned that, should daz decide to do a series religious based figures, to be fair and in the spirit of religious freedom, Satan and friends should also be included in the series. Now there are certainly many demonic models (if that is your perception of what a Satan would look like), but none of them actually carry the name "Satan".
but none of them actually carry the name "Satan".
Good, good point and we do have angels, not many but there were some!
Wings seem to be the big draw.
I thnk a PA should make and sell what they want and forget political correctness. I am so tired of whiney, overly sensitive people who are to easily offended. If you don't want to use it, don't buy it. If you don't want to see it, don't look at it, problem solved. It's like the ridiculus complaints we get when someone doesn't like the theme of an addon character. Other than holidays, I wouldn't have much use for religious characters, but hove no issues with having them in the store.
They already do.. look at all the swimsuits and sexy clothing that's spawned complaint threads about them. The money and the interest isn't there to make the clothing the OP stated. In all my time as a PA, I've yet to see any other PA express an interest to make clothing like this beyond the greek/roman wear..
"Over the years a meal that Sackboy attended with his mates, the 12 apostrophes, attracted mythic status due to a preponderance of typographocal errors and mistranslations ..."
Originally done for @LlolaLane's monthly challeneg of a few years back, based on the number 12, but this topic suddenly reminded me of it:
LOL!!!
Actually, I think Cybertenko does have a Jesus character for M4. He's certainly got a calvary hill.
Well there are presently 2 images of Christ being crucified in the gallery that I can see at a glance. One was pretty graphic with the gore and is in the banner bar.
Its not a whole lot more messy than one of my horror renders, less the more I think of it. I wonder what the official daz reaction will be when they get back to work. Will be interesting to see if it gets yanked. I like it, but if the artist wanted to gore him up like that, they shouldve put some dirt and sweat on him as well. Just my opinion.
I saw that render of the crucifix and while it's pretty good the blood is not distributed at all realistically and there is far too much of it too. I can't stand to have the crucifix part on my gold cross necklace, it is too upsetting.
I think the renders popularity shows that there would be decent sized market for quality historical models of a Biblical nature, although I don't think those would outsell the babes in metal bikinis. It would meld together well with the Egyptian (and Asyrrian) theme(s) too. There is actually some old Biblical style clothing in the DAZ Store but that which I used doesn't dForce too well which is sort of a requirement for that style clothing. Maybe it could easily be made to serve as modern traditional Middle Eastern clothing among the monied folk too.
Any opinion of mine on this subject would get me censored I'm afraid. So I will abstain from comment.
LOL, I've already started and deleted 2 comments of mine for this thread earlier today.
Actually, looks like they are already yanking renders. I saw another crucifiction render in the gallery that was of a more sarcastic nature. Gone.
Nope, this one is still there. Warning blood...and depiction of torture... https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/551236/
Well that one isn't trolling to insult people like the other was said to, although it's disturbing none-the-less, in a truthful sense it is respectful to the actual history that occured and not intended to insult but to warn against the abuses of government against its citizens. They reenact the crucifixion part of the story in the Phillipines every Easter. That should probably be outlawed, actually it'd be a good guess to think current Phillipine law does outlaw it, but to be effective laws must be enforced.
+1
However, it may mean there'll be more male items available in the Daz shop.
I thought the censored one was quite creative.... nothing offensive at all to me except the fact that it is now gone.
I've just realized another advantage of religious art... generally CG babies are hella creepy, but in religious art that's just part of the genre!
Sidenote, can I sneak boobs by the tos if they're growing out of the shoulder and look nothing like boobs?
The artists often didn’t work with real children so infants often looked like small people. Art history was a fun course.
Theres also some weird religious basis for super adult (abs!) Jesus too. Basically boiling down to since he's father, son, holy spirit and not normal baby he should look extra special, which means abs? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not that there aren't a lot of weird babies but Jesus tends to be the tiny adultiest, and the only one who ever gets abs. (its especially common in medieval art which is more symbolic vs representational compared to, say, the Renaissance)
And yes art history \was a fun couse for me too!
my artistic interpretation of the easter bunny on a cross was yanked a couple of years ago as it apparently offended someone..
Maybe do the Eostre Bunny as Odin hanging itself on the tree of knowledge with the spear its stabbed itself with, I mean there's no Christian imagery in that so you should be good ;)
@Simonjm - the 12 apostrophies made me laugh - thanks!
When I saw the eyes on that woman, my first thought was "Stewie looking suspicious"...
And I'll bet that baby she's holding has the face of one of the artist's wealthy patrons.
Nothing like being immortalized forever as a terrifying child.
