Old Japanese Town Edo Vol.5
in The Commons
Very difficult today.
A) He has so few new releases that this PA never goes on sale.
B) I just loaded one of his old castles and I'm hoping the structures are hollow and finished enough to place furniture inside to make real buildings.
I opened up one of his castles and it appears that I can load the bits alone and fill the insides myself. So this is a necessary purchase for the future.
Now were playing cart sacrifices tosee what stays, what goes and what gets shuffled off to the wish list.
A lot of great releases today. Wish there was a better stackling deal on offer.

Overall this is one of those incredible vendors that's hard to understand HOW they do it.

Yah, really struggling with this one. Having a hard time saying no.
Today is the 16th time his store went on sale within the last year.
I caved and grabbed the town and Giko's Smoke Project. I really, really, really should have waited, but both are something I think I'll get a lot of use out of. The Japanese town looks so beautiful. Love those promos. I can't offer info if the buildings are hollow since DIM isn't working for me this morning and can't download. But for me at least, I don't need working interiors. Those exteriors were hard to resist.
I see there's vol 3, 4, and 5. Anybody know what happened to 1 and 2? Have they been retired?
Theyre at Rendo.

Whoa? Releasing what? What did I miss? Cause I have a bunch of stuff wishlisted.....
Found them. Thank you! :)
I've no idea. I just looked at the price history, and counted the number of sales. :)
[Scratches chin....]
Maybe he released that sushi plate and that put his stuff on sale. Or maybe something was added to PC+.
Either way, I think it's safest to dig in today and not wait.
It's almost ironic that after buying today's product from his store, I will certainly be eating cheap noodles all through April.
Stupid question probably, but which castle was depicted in "Godzilla Raids Again" (aka "Gigantus, the Fire Monster") and is one of the models offered that particular palace?
Sincerely,
Bill
A lil' bit of research revealed it was "Osaka Castle" that was pummeled in "Godzilla Raids Again". While the ones Suagtak offers have a similar look (at least to my untrained western eyes), none of them are specifically "Osaka Castle".
Sincerely,
Bill
Are you into the Godzilla movies? I'd like to hear your opinion of "Shin Godzilla" and that new animated Godzilla movie from last year.
I caved and had to buy the ramen cart... its been in my wishlist FOREVER. I'm so so so doomed when i get my credit card statement. Seriously. And then I missed real genuine, "made from fresh ingredients" ramen shops and had to find one nearby and pretty sure i'm gonna have to eat there tomorrow...
Can't offer an opinion as I have not yet seen either. Last "new" Goji film I was was the 2014 Legendary Pictures version.
Technically, the last I saw (or rather watched again) was "Final Wars" which aired on the Sony Channel yesterday evening.
Sincerely,
Bill
I love that theme song. That movie is so Matrix-inspired it's hilarious. And what, they called the Mathew Broderick Godzilla a tuna-head. lol
Anyone knows if there are textured interiors? The product description says doors are rigged, so it went into my wishlist real fast:) And thank you @sugatak for supporting 3DL!!! Looking very very nice!
Griffin, so we won't derail this thread, here's one better suited to our lil' side discussion...

This new set in the store looks very simular to like the one I got at rendo yesterday which is also by sugatak
I got these 2 sets from Sugatak store yesturday with my prime membership for about $15 bucks for both sets, which was a heck of a deal for both sets (links for off-site commercial removed ~Mod)
when I loaded it and started setting up the scenes today I noticed that the 2 sets look very eerily as the same one in the daz store today once you load the 2 redno sets together, Which the rendo set is very easy to kit bash and pick apart the tons of props Does the one in the Daz Store have alot of props as well, does it break apart easy for kit bashing?
The set in daz store has iray &3dl, mats which is rather appealing to me, where the rendo one is poser mats, which still work great for my needs in 3delight because I am planning on using it in animation anyway and Iray and animation is not option at this time for me. with how much vram it takes to render out animation thatb has a lot of characters with using gpu I just can't get enough GPU vram to do the task of building huge iray scene. ,. So the rendo sets satisfies my need for a Old Japanese fishing village for my Karate girl animation series for now. . I just wish I would have know this daz set was coming out though before I made my purchases yesturday. I may have held off on the rendo sets,
So now I am on the fence about getting this new Daz set. because it still looks like a geat set to add to my Japanese/Asian, animations Assets
I know anything that Sugatk release is pretty awesome, I have a lot of their products . So I'm happy with what I got from rendo for now and I'll keep this new daz set in my wishlist. decisions decisions
I bought it. Im gonna take a quick look.
I bought a whole lot of other stuff to satisfy todays deal.
Lots to install.
Ill post a pic or two.
@ AnotherUserName
I would be intersted in know how easy it breaks up for kit bashing, because if it does breaks up, I may change my mind and get it anyway
Thanks for any info in advance.
Hi Ivy,
The entire seen is made up of many, many props and instance groups. I stopped counting after I got to a count of 75 and I dont think I was even half way finished. The props folder contains 49 props which includes the terrain prop and all of the buildings as individual units as far as I can tell. Some props that ive noticed, such as signs may actually be part of the buildings themselves but im not positive. Ive seen tatami mats in some of the building interiors. I was actually hoping that this was a re-issue of Edo 1 and 2 since I hate taking the time to convert everything to iray, but im not yet positive. Give me a few minutes and ill find out.
Just in case you are reading these comments sugatak, I would totally purchase a morning, afternoon and evening interior light set for Edo #5. Beautiful work!
Awsome Do you have vol 1 & 2 do you think this set like them ? I much rather convert stuff to iray then try to convery iray to 3dl. myself like I said I want this stuff for my KG animation series so 3delight is my choice at this time because of hardware & computer resources dictate alot of how i build my scenes for animation. . But maybe I better pick this set up anyway, I can never seem to have enough Japanese props and if this sets breaks down then that is all I really wanted to know . Sugatak other sets I have bought have all been top notch products.
Thank you for your reply back to my question, very good intel & I appreciate it alot., and you helped me out in my decisions ,
This set contains much more than Edo 1 and 2, not a re-issue. Alot larger as well. The look is like Edo 1 and 2 but so much bigger. You shouldnt have any problem kit bashing this.
Heres some quick and dirty pics.
downloading it as we speak :)
Sweet! I think your really going to like it. The buildings have tons of surface groups as well.
Okay its all downloaded and installed working up a scene now in iray for a benchmark . first thing I noticed is actually there is more props in the edo1 & 2 orginal set i got at rendo. But this set is a huge set up. tha will be awesome with bill board props for a fill in . plus I can work the dock into this EDO5 set from the EDO 1 so yeah this set will kit bash awesome.
be back in a few minutes with a render
Me too! Would also like to see more props and add-ons such as street vendors, more boats, and associated city clutter (I know they were very neat in those days, but anything appropriate).
Also detailed interiors for some of the buildings. An inn, shops, etc.
