Where's my Iray render?

Hello -

I'm trying tov render in Iray and have done it in the past. Now, however, after letting a render run for an hour (3600 secs), and seeing it develop in a new window (target), the completed render is not able to be found in the image path direcrory I have set. Where is the render going, and how can I ascertain that I'm not wasting time rendering images that will not be able to be found?

Can't understand what's going on here.

Thank you.

  • Got one to work, but is it possible to render to file and have the work develop in a separate target window so you can see progress? That seems to have been the issue if I'm correct.

If you are rendering to a window then saving it with the save button to the path that is set at the bottom of the window should work. You can't render to a file and see it in a render window at the same time.

DS does not directly support rendering to a window and then saving without prompting, though it may be possible by setting a script to run when a render complete or, more simply, by using a script to start the render and then to save the result.

  • Thanks, guys. I doidn't know I had to save it if I'm rendering to a new window. Should I be using the save selection on the file menu at the top, or is there a button I missed when I killed the new window?

There's a set of buttons near the bottom of the window to resume render, save image or close the window.

ETA: The "Save" button only works if you type a filename in the box above the buttons - otherwise it's greyed-out.

Thank you. I must have missed them entirely and killed the window, thinking it would have gone to file path. Live and learn...

File>Save Last Render will work even if you have closed the window, as long as DS is still running the same session and scene.
