There is an update to Genesis 8 Starter Essentials in Daz Connect today. I installed it and now every file in that product is in Lost and Found. If you use Daz Connect and Smart Content, this is a problem. I've submitted a help request.

I had an update in DIM for every Genesis / Genesis 2 Female|Male / Genesis 3 Female|Male / Genesis 8 Female|Male Starter Essential product today and have updated them via DIM.
Just what was updated in these product files? DAZ Studio has a release notes file included when such updates happen. No such luck with these other product files.
My guess is one of two things happened/is happening:
However, no new beta release as yet. Though if 2 is the case, they could be holding off a few days to make sure everyone has the updates installed.
Knowing Daz, though, it could be anything. Including a glitch! lol

Thanks for posting this. I do my installs manually and I'd have no way of knowning there even WERE updates otherwise ;).
The "other place" sends me an email when there's an update. I wish Daz would do this too ;).

Same here. Or at least bump it to the top of the list in my product library.
The readme file online has info on what changed.
2018-03-27 - Updated metadata, added to Scene Builder, added anatomical elements UV set, added icons for aniblocks
Thanks.
Well in checking my Lost & Found after those updates my Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials & Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials are in there, along with a list of products that is shorter than I would have guessed being that I own almost 3000 DAZ Store products now (although I suspenct only about 1000 of them are actually uniquely purchased or given free products).
It is not unusual for a product to appear in Lost and Found. If even ONE file in the product has no metadata category, the product will appear in Lost and Found. If you open the product and look at the files in the product and what category each one falls into, you can see which file(s) is/are in Lost and Found. What is unusual with Genesis 8 Starter Essentials is that EVERY file in the product is in Lost and Found!
Yep, if you're online the updated metadata places the Gen8 essential in the lost and found section. You have to rebuild your database and work offline.
This has been bugging me for a long time. I really don't understand why several products lose their thumbnails/smart content ctaegory if their metadata gets updated.
What puzzles me is, why would they need to add the anatomical elements UV to the base figures? And how, for that matter; did they split the Torso island into two surface zones? They only did it for G3 and G8 -- the note doesn't mention that for G2, at least.
Wait, what? What? Isn't that going to break every surface preset?
What do you mean by "split the Torso island into two surface zones"? Do you see something different in the Torso maps or UV?
Yeah, I'm not seeing any of that.
I know the gens has a tiny bit of pseudo torso which has to match the torso for smooth transition and pubes... perhaps, that's it?
Already Ollie has an update too as does Paige and her clothes. I wonder what that's all about?
No, no; I was just going off the readmes. I've been working on something and haven't had a chance to download yet. I was just wondering why they added anatomical elements UVs to the main figure -- the readme says they added anatomical elements UV to the starter essentials, where it hadn't been before -- and spitballing how that could work. nemesis10 may be right about what's happening and why.
We are informed that this should be fixed now
Actually, it's not fixed. Only the G8F and her items are listed in the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials for my Smart Content. You still need to go to the Content Library to use G8M. This problem is similar to what happened when Michael 8/G8M was released. You only get one figure (either G8F or G8M, whatever was installed last) and the other is only available at the Content Library.
If it helps, I'm using DIM to install the products and DAZ Studio auto logs in my credentials.
I'm curious; I avoid Connect like the plague, but bugs in one place have been known to have unexpected consequences elsewhere.
Do we know what the updates to Starter Essentials are? (Basically, how vital are they?)
Try the following: (for Connect users)
1. If it is all in Lost & Found (Image 1)
2. Go to Products view and R-Click the Product Icon (Image 2)
3. Update the Metadata (forces an update for that product)
4. You should see everything refreshed and working. (image 3)
Yes, I see the contents are no longer in Lost and Found. They have their categories again.
No, this is NOT solved. I recently got this problem and even if i reinstalled everything its still there.
In Lost and Found? I doubt it's the same issue, given the date of the thread, but it may be the same symptom. How did you install - Connect or DIM?
I even reinstalled everything. The problem is still here. I have to log in to fix it. My genesis8 starter esentials is at lost and find all the time.
I installed with Dim.
Could it be because there are two installers, but a single shared metadata file? Genesis 2 and 3 Starter Essentials also share a metadata file, and I do remember custom categories getting blanked out with a previous update.
Ok, how do I fix it?
But this is wierder than wierd, it seems like its just one folder that is affected. When I moved it to another folder and named that test the problem stopped for that folder.
It is not solved at all.
I have a lot of props where the metadata update fails for 1 of 3 items.
For example, all Z pose packs for G3 and G8.
Uninstalled Genesis 3 starter essentials female using DIM and reinstalled, didn't help.
When I uninstall corrupted items and reinstall using connect it works.
This is a major mess-up by DAZ.
I demand Gianni 8 with HD morphs included in the pro-bundle as an apology.
That is clearly not the same as the issue at the start of this thread, would you like your post split out into a new thread?
Apologies, I thought it was related.
