You do realize that these are the first official 'mature' character pair we've had since the Aged M4 and V4 morph package that came out in something like 2010 or 2011?

Yes, admittedly Ivan was definitely a mature character, all by himself, and a lot of the G3 bases looked a *bit* older than their previous iterations. But DAZ has mostly been letting Zev0 and a number of PAs fill that niche for them ever since Genesis launched. These are the first official bases that seem to be designed to cover the 40-60 age group, Which is you are creating anything other than pin-ups you will rapidly find that you need.

Wow. No I did not realize that. I had decided if the next pro bundle was another teen I was going to pass on it. The Ollie addition today is super fun.

Well I was wrong, in any case. I'd forgotten Ivan 7. He's definitely middle, to late middle age. (Not necessarily the years, but the milage.) Rune, well, at least she doesn't look like a teenager.

I think with the release of so many youths we forget about the older ones that have some out. But I think it is still the only older “male - female” pro bundle  I have ever seen.

However i I still wish they would slow down the pro bundle releases. I

I haven't been keeping close track since Genesis 8 first dropped, but it has felt like we've had 'major character drops' every two weeks along with associated bundles.  I seem to remember that a couple of those had lighter bundles than the 'pro/starter' we are used to, but nonetheless they were bundled with a few other items.

I think there may have been a bit of overlap with a couple of 'latecomer' Genesis 3 pro bundles in June-July (Centaur 7 Female maybe?).

Looking at the store real quick...I see 16 pro bundles for Genesis 8 characters.  Genesis 8 dropped in mid(?) June, so That's just a bit shy of the 18-20-ish pro bundles one might expect for 9 months of Genesis 8.

I almost missed Aiko 8 and Ollie 8 in my bundle search, as they are on sale right now, and hence discounted/farther down the list in my price high-low Genesis 8 bundle search.

Daz's strategy of bundling the pro bundles early on with 3-4 pro bundles from earlier generations (or crediting you for those with additional discounts if you already had them) certainly helped encourage early adoption of Genesis 8.  My Genesis 8 library is certainly much larger than I would have expected it to be at this point, as I'm quite content with Genesis 2-3 even though 8 brings a few new tweaks to the table.

Of course, now they aren't currently doing the 'get 3-4 previous pro bundles, or extra discount credits for the ones you already have' as they've no doubt managed to get a LOT of us on the Genesis 8 train already, and hence longer feel as compelled to 'convince us' to grab the latest pro bundle.

The Aiko 8/Ollie 8 discount strategy is an interesting one, but as I commented recently in another thread, a few of the products felt like they simply 'peeled off' the extra textures for a few things into separate product instead of including them.  It certainly drops the price a bit, but it's not the same as getting 36-44 or so items for the price of say 20-26 items you may have ended up with in the last couple of sales (there's still been a singlular bundle offering if you max stack your discounts)... Although YMMV, as it often ended up being a significantly less number of items if you already owned a number of the pro bundle items from previous generations.

For newbies without a lot of pro bundles, the initial pro bundle sales (Victoria 8, etc.) were godsends which helped fill in our libraries significantly, but for seasoned customers (those that have been buying Daz3D stuff for a few years now) well they weren't quite as attractive, although the extra 10% discount for every pro bundle you already had was still an enticement.

Also keep in mind that you DON'T have to buy every pro bundle character that hits the store.  I've passed on a handful of them, although overall Daz's strategy worked pretty well on me up to this point.  It's your budget that you have to meet, so you do the best you can with the money you have available.

Those are my thoughts on the subject.

Totally agree. I honestly thought that most of the characters were fan based take offs on famous movie characters. Not identical but definitely inspired by favorite shows.

I bought her because I thought she would look older but I rarely use her. Kinda sad.  She is a nice character. I think like you said too milf for what I wanted her for.

Yeah, she'd play the cougar very well, but probably not so much your favorite aunt :P. (unless, of course, your favorite aunt is a cougar....lol)

  • Ivan is one of my favorite go to characters used him a lot as will Owen, Ollie has a lot of potentential for all kinds of characters. As for the ladies there are a few mature ones 30-40-50+ working on a project with a bunch of them in lingerie yes older ladies can be pinup models and attractive. Mei Linn 7 is a mature lady as is Ophelia 7 even more so with her HD morph she has a lot of blemishes and other marks and several others-trying to decide if any of my Olympia gals do think she may be late 20's early mid 30's. Rune, Arabella, Lillith7, and Eva mid late 30's Gia 6 30's but Gia 7 40's, Rune mid 30's-early 40nand the rest mid to late 2o's early 30's. But would like some more matures like I said they can be pinup models too

Most of the gen 3 pro bundles in the last couple of years were once a month blitz day for me.  I looked forward to it once I figured out how to stack the sales.  When I first started I did not know how to do that and passed on a lot of the pro bundles.  I had no idea that people would build characters that used the pro bundles as a base and that I would woefully regret not buying the pro bundles while they were majorly discounted.  Which is why I try to buy them all now.  However moving them up to every two week releases since the start of gen 8 has caused me to start rethinking my strategy.  I have a lot going on in my personal life, bought a house that needs to be worked on so two mortages until we get moved and the other house sold, lost overtime, etc.  I know that I'm not the only one that has lots of things going on in their lives too.  So I'm feeling the pinch and I figure others are too.

Ollie was just too good to pass up.  I HAD to own him.  Aiko 8 was disapointing.  Not because it was a bad character but because I really hoped for the great eyes of aiko 6.  I've tried recreating them but without much luck, despite tons of morphs from both daz and rendo.  However I have considered starting to pass on one of the pro bundles every month.  Especially of the ones that do not wow me with such amazing morphs that I know I need to have them so that I can dial in some great variations to my existing characters.

Yes those extra pro bundles were the worm on the hook for most people but the posing ability of g8 is what brought me over.  I knew as soon as I messed with her I had to have them all and that I would be mostly abandoning my earlier generations.  That did not turn out to be true but mainly because I love some of the earlier generations clothing and it's easier to use the figure it was designed for.

When I started this post I genuinly did not know if it was the norm or not, but in tracking back, I think g8 has amped up the pro bundles to twice a month. I'm just grateful that they discount it so much at the outset.

I randomly selected Briallen today to use for a warrior type while I was messing with some clothing experiments.  I noticed that she had a lot of dimples from behind on her lower half and that her face looked older in the preview screen.  However in iray renders the totally disapear and in 3delight they mostly disapear.  Maybe it's not that there are not older characters but that ths textures are not extreem enough for them to show up in most renders.  In smooth shaded you can actually see what look like skin folds on her back.

If you add in Ophelia's HD morphs @ 100%, she really gets up there. I mean, she can pass for early 50's easily. But her skin is great. I thought she was meant to be Hispanic.

Now, regarding two bundles in one month, I think it's great. But my problem is when they are timed mid-month/end-month. By that time, I have severely or completely diminished my 3D account. Consequently, I had to pass on Aiko 8 Pro Bundle, and I opted to only get the Sci-Fi Action Outfit and its textures (which are fabulous! Yura ABSOLUTELY should ALWAYS have a texture artist do his stuff because it's great but his textures not so much). And now I'm standing on faith that I will be able to get the amazing Ollie 8 Pro Bundle and all the great add-ons while they are on steep discount. So, Daz: Why not go back to first and third week Core character releases?

Aren’t they still leaving them up for two weeks to purchase?   For a long time I purchased them at almost the last moment because they released on my high expenditure weeks.

Aiko is still up, but she's $20 more than her intro price. I'm spoiled now. I will not pay $50+ for a Pro Bundle. So, when I see Ollie 8 Pro Bundle under $30, that's what I want to pay for it.
