Searching the store for a particular staff, I happened to had the luck to find what I wanted in a promo image. However, looks like the staff is not part of the product (an expansion texture pack) or the original clothing in which is based. Credits don't mention the staff at all. Do any of you know where that staff is from? Or know of a similar one elsewhere?
This is the product I am talking about: http://www.daz3d.com/wizard-of-light

I don't know about that exact one (I couldn't find it either) but this one is kind of cool: http://www.daz3d.com/the-mage
There's one that looks simialr in this: http://www.daz3d.com/mage-weapons

That one is old, and I suspect that it would be in the PC+ collection, if it still exists in the store. There used to be a freebie collection attached to the PC which disappeared a couple of iterations of the website ago, that might have been from a part of it. In any event, it's gen3, or at any rate for M3, so probably prior to 2008.
I think its from this pack you kinda build your own staff with differnt pieces.

Looks like it might be from this pack possibly ( http://www.daz3d.com/staff-pack ) with a new/custom texture. The pack has different staffs, tops and bits that you can build into different complete staffs if I remember correctly, I do have this but not sure if it is installed at the moment, and only $1.99 if you are a PC+ Member.
Thanks all for your answers. I should have been more clear, sorry. The part I am interested is the dragon claw grabing the orb from the top and I have not seen that in what you linked.
That part is defining of the character I'm trying to portrait. Thanks anyway for your help.
The dragon claw is part of the staff pack, its been retextured with all the shaders availble today it shouldn't be hard to get the look you want.
Lol, I was looking at all those staves in the background without noticing the one in the front. Thank you, I'll get it now!
Assuming Raistlin Majere?
Awesome! I am cosplaying Raistlin for Halloween this year. Should be fun. He's a great character!
Cool! That's a great idea for a halloween costume. And pretty original nowadays.
Just as an idea, it'd probably be easiest to do the "hourglass irises" in post.
Linton? You're on your own for the hourglass eyes. :P
Yeah, I thought about it, but my postwork skills are close to none. Maybe I'll give it a try for my next render.
Well, the only other option is to try to create a morph of the pupils into an hourglass shape, which I can tell ya won't be that easy to get them symmtrical...
mebbe geoshell contact lenses?
A feeble attempt using Gimp, not really noticiable in the right way; but noticiable in the bad lol
There's no way i could even put the hourglass contacts in, I hate anything touching my eyes. I haven't been able to find hourglass contacts anywhere anyway, so my plan is to pain my eyelids to look like real eyes with the hourglass look, and when I close my eyes, it'll look like they are open and gleaming as hourglasses.
That is exactly the same one. The artist has just used different textures and/or shaders. Pretty awesome.
Holy threadromancy, Batman!
Nice render. I popped over to the pic and gave it a like.
Thank you! Much apreciated.
If you want to get into creating 3D models with Hexagon, creating a wizard's staff would be an excellent beginner's project for learning 3D modelling. You might want to try making one in Hex since it's free and you might discover a love of modelling.
Yep! My 1st project in Hex was a staff. I lost the renders when our server died.. but it was an epic weapon from Ever Quest 1... this one - https://i.ytimg.com/vi/l-6En4kuDdY/maxresdefault.jpg
Now there's a blast from the past. It's been probably 30 or so years since I read any Dragonlance books
Well, it has been a while since I posted this; I just finished a 9 months course about videogames creation and I am working on a demo reel for the end-course project. So, yeah; I did wanted to get into creating 3D models, only using Maya instead of Hexagon.
