re-apply day texture in zb4?

Why can't I use exported daz textures and just re-apply them on a figure inside of zbrush?

Because ZBrush doesn't directly support having different, overlapping in UV space maps on different parts of the model - there are ways to do it by selectively hiding the mesh but it isn't a simple matter of applying the maps in one go.

  • If I use another app as a go between that can use daz uvs like cinema 4d or maya, I could then bring those quasi daz textures into zbrush indirectly (kinda backdoor-ish), correct?

Not as far as I know. You could scale the UVs down so they occuspied only part of the UV space, without overlapping, then make a composite map on the same plan, apply that in ZBrush, modify as you wanted, then export a single map and chop it up into the sub-maps needed for DS. That has long been one of the traditional approaches, though as I said it is possible to do it inside ZBrush with a bit of fiddling (as long as you have the mpaaings, which between DS and ZBrush means going via OBJ instead of using GoZ).
