In that case it's entirely possible that Studio refuses to add metadata which doesn't have a unique identifier from Daz themselves. If that's the case, then there's not a lot I can do to get around that issue short of asking Daz to give me one I can use. I'll remove the metadata installer for now until I figure this out rather than leave it online as a red herring. My humblest apologies.
If you're interested in adding it to your smart content regardless, I suggest you check my metadata tutorial for information on how to categorize your own items.

Well if its any consolation, the ibls work really well so thanks for setting them up.
It wasn't much of a consolation, so I went and fixed the problem! The metadata should now install on any machine perfectly fine. Please check this link for the updated metadata files.

Yep working now, they appear in the "files" list which is fine.
Just thought I would share:
Testing some HRDI lighting with Daz, Luxus, and Luxrender. This render only cooked for about 2 hours but I'll be trying out some more complex scenes soon. I watched Bluebird 3d's Luxus Pro training videos today (highly recommend) and got some ideas of how to improve my environments with HDRI lighting. In this render used a Luxus sun/sky light, I then converted it to an infinite light and applied one of DimensionTheories Skies of econmy .hdr files to the light. LuxRender is set to ISO200, Shutter 1/4, f-stop 5.6. The infinite light is set at about 15.000 and I have one area light at .07 I'll be playing some more and post what I find. The .hdr files from this set for Carrara work perfectly in Daz 4.6 with Luxus if you locate them in a separate folder and the skies show up beautifully. Yay :cheese:
Nice result. I will say however, that the sky can actually interfere with IBL's without either increasing the IBL gain or reducing the sky gain because it acts almost like its own IBL, giving a light colour based on the sun position.
You can add a sun light without the need for a sky by selecting 'Luxus - Luxrender Light' in the parameters options (like you would do for lux textures), which in my opinion can give superior results. That's essentially the basis of the presets I uploaded to ShareCG. By increasing the size of the sun, you can give softer shadows, which is great for overcast or scenes where the sun is obscured by terrain.
Awesome wicker chair modelled by LuxXeon available here http://www.sharecg.com/v/69552/view/5/3D-Model/Wicker-Cappellini-Chair
The set is hot tub pagola, I used a brown absorption on the wood textures to deepen the colour.
Lit with one of heraldoffires IBL`s.
I assume by 'brown absorption' you mean an opposing colour? Absorbed colours aren't reflected, so if you absorbed the brown colour, you'd actually be removing that from the final render rather than emphasising it. Reflected colours are the ones picked up by the camera.
It looks lovely though. Nice bump maps used on the wood as well. For this particular image I recommend turning up the gain on the environment map though. Around 15-20 might do the trick. You can find it nested under Luxus IBL.

Thanks I actually turned down the environment light on purpose so that the sun light highlighted the chair.
What started out as a materiel test, wound up being a full blown render.
Materials used :-
Metal2 with a gold freshnal file (AU.nk), Glass2 with volume and absorption, cloth with silk_charmuese.
The floor is the part im most unhappy with, it looks like brown plastic but other than that it looks good I think, the candle star flares are done in LUX using the glare option.
Very Nice Michael :)
DANG! That's a gorgeous render Michael!!
HAH... most floors these days ARE plastic! ;-)~
LOL true...silly me. slap me around with a floppy lectuce leaf.
*slap* *tickle* *slap* *tickle* *slap* *tickle*
LOL Hey slap and no tickle please
Some gloss paint looks like that also, especially an oil based floor gloss with a couple layers. (Think paint for garage floors for instance.) That is what I figured he was going for.
Yeah like I said in the comment the floor is bad :(
Thanks for the all the kind words guys.
This image is a remake of an older scene I did using DS and Reality 2 years ago. I wanted to see if I could recreate the scene (not including pose and what not) and get roughly the same results. Its not bad but its been too long since I have used Lux Render with any exporter to really get anything decent out of it. I admit I am not 100% pleased with this. As a result I am also working on a version that will be rendered via 3Delight in DAZ Studio.
It is based on this image - http://mattymanx.deviantart.com/art/Velvet-207232523
I like this version better then the original.
Thank you.
Some thing new :D
@spheric any news on an update?.
Nice render Michael :)
Thank you good sir :D
Hi everyone! I just discovered DAZ 3D about a month ago and purchased Luxus about a week ago. I've read through about three quarters of the Luxus discussion thread and decided to try my best at it. I had my first experience with 3D software back in the early nineties using Swivel 3D and Infini-D. I played around with Blender several years ago, but never got into it too much. I just recently had the urge to try this amazing hobby once more and I'm glad I did! The render here is of Syltermermaid's Andrea sitting on a cube primitive that is set to a LuxRender light. I used a Reality System curved light converted to a LuxRender light setup behind the camera. There is also a plane primitive with a diffuse color of black used as the floor. The pose is from i13's Pose Revolution. I let it render overnight to about 1k S/p on my 1.86 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM.
Peace \/
Dan
nicely done
Thanks for the compliment.
I have a few questions about Luxus for anyone interested in answering:
1. How come the lxs files produced by Luxus are ~40MB where the ones produced by Reality are only ~2KB on the same scene?
2. Is it possible to find out what the Luxus auto-conversion is using before rendering?
3. Is the auto-conversion only used on surfaces that I don't over-ride as a Luxus material?
4. If I over-ride a surface with a Luxus material, do I have to always copy the DS parameters for it to look right?
5. I noticed some surfaces don't show textures unless I turn down the glossy setting. Is this expected?
Thanks!

#1, Luxus writes everything in one file, I have heard that Reality will generate more than one file per export. Reality uses ply meshes(binary). Luxus keeps all things ascii in one file.
#2) It uses Diffuse, Specular, Reflection, Bump, and Normal.
#3, yes
#4, you do not, but copying the DS parameters certainly saves times.
#5, Usually Luxus errs on the side of less gloss, but in some cases the autoconvert is choking on the specular, and specular needs to be turned down.. This is being addressed for a future build.
Thanks Spheric for answering all of my questions! I really appreciate it. One more question for you:
How do I make a floor reflect the objects that are on it? I'm working on a scene with a checkered floor and a chair. When I render it, the floor has no reflections regardless of what I set the reflection value to in DS. I'd like to have the floor reflect the chair as if it was just polished. :)
Thanks again!

P.S. What do you think of my "Andrea on glowing cube" render from above?
