Question about military dress uniform by Daz/Sarsa

I have no knowledge of military uniforms and I was wondering if this was a real uniform or a made up one: https://www.daz3d.com/military-dress-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-2-male-s

Is it meant to be a current uniform or historical one? If it's real, from what country or time period? Or if it is made up, is it reminiscent or loosely based on any real uniform from a particular time period or country? Thanks.

It's made up. I do lots of military style renders and have no use for it. When it was released there was a thread on it and some found it worked well for some scifi use. I would kill for a well done realistic military dress uniform

The belt is the issue with this. It looks distorted and it distorts.

It is similar to US Marine and Navy full dress whites; but not identical and you might need to change the insignia.

Also notice the placement of the belt which is too high and can't easily be changed.

The best uniform I know of is "Channings Marine for M4 One" over at PoserAddicts.

is it possible to leave the belt off? I like the overall look of the uniform, other than that ...

If I correctly recall the discussion when the uniform came out, it is difficult to hide or remove the belt  as it is built into the coat, but RedZ has created some morphs to adjust it. See his post part way down page 3 of this thread:

Thanks Charlie, remember seeing that one awhile back and thinking about it. Too bad it's for M4.

Predatron has one too, but also for M4:

I really wish the person who made the Marines uniform would sell it. Please forgive me if I get the screenname wrong...malimagery? Something like that. LOL Man, that uniform looked awesome. He really did a fantastic job.

    Agreed!

  • "Military" shouldn't even be in the name of the item in the OP. I mean, there are NCM chevrons and officer stripes on the sleeves. WTF is that?

I get that 90% of the items in the store are fantastic in nature, but you'd think the PA could have googled a reference...

Perhaps it's time I fired up MD7 and got to work. I can use my own dress uniform as a reference cheeky

I like this set. The belt is an issue, to some extent, as it can distort as said above. But this is a great uniform for a non-real military. Fantasy, near or far future, alternate history. Sure, this is not a real uniform, but you don’t hear s lot of complaints about, say, Aiko, because she isn’t completely realistic.

Maybe you should check out her thread. There's a whole lotta complaining going on.

LOL, was just thinking that also.

No one expects Aiko to be realistic, so there is no expectation for it. I can see how this outfit would be great for fantascy, scifi renders, but it is marketed as a military dress uniform and as such, many expected it to be closer to realistic than it is. Same thing as the Army uniform from the same artists, it's far from realistic and pretty much useless for me

I’m not a military historian but it’s clearly not a modern, realistic design. Maybe I’m shallow but I buy things here on how they look.

Coincidentally I was using this very set last night, I’m making a conductor for The Antmans new elevated train.

Nice, I can see this working well for that. I have no issues trying to repurpose things, do it all the time, I just needed/wanted a realistic military dress uniform and with a little more attention in the modeling dept, this could have become much closer to that

Unless you want WWII German Military, in which case Tannenbaum's sets over at Renderosity are absolutely amazing pieces of work.
