What’s Your Favorite Figure

Hello All!

I was just thinking about all the figures I have in my DAZ inventory. I thought I would ask what is everyone’s favorite DAZ figure and why.

For me, it’s probably going to be Elijah 7. He was the first just tall, skinny dude in the bunch. He also didn’t look heroic or overly perfect. He just seemed like a normal 20-something guy to me.

It was love at first render:

I have more than one. The candidates are: Michael 6, Elijah 7, Leo 7 (he'd be better without the scaling thing), Ophelia 7, Alexandra 8, Edward 8, Owen 8 :D

See that is the thing, I don't use any of the figures as is. Figures are nothing more than morphs to combine with other morphs to create the character I want.

I do get alot of use out of Ophelia 7 HD and Victoria 7/8 HD.

i did just pick up Elijah 7 for free, so curious to see how he adds into the mix.

My primary figure is still Genesis 1. I have a couple of characters that were based on G2 though, and more recently I've used G3 a couple of times.

I don't even attempt photorealism however. I want my illustrations to *look* like illustrations.

My all-time top 3 favorite males are

    Elijah 7

    Lee 6

    and Edward 8

Marc comes in close 4th place.

*Disclaimer- Their skin settings aren't "out of the box", the skin settings have been modified with my shaders.

My favorite females are harder to nail down. SO many really lovely characters! I'll have to think about it and get back to you on my top favorite females. :)

    THIS^

I much prefer to Dial in my own with the hundreds
    of morphs I have for G1-G2 .
the canned Characters are too limiting
for my particular visual story telling through animation.
and since I make my own clothing all of my Characters are truly  one offs not so easily identifiable.

Ditto. I rarely use "as is" characters, though I only make minor changes to Lee 7, Ivan and now Edward 8. The females are almost always mixed morphs.

I mostly use various generations of Genesis and strive for a certain level of realism in my renders. Despite that, my favorite character is still the original Sadie by 3D Universe.

When considering which figure might be my favorite, a pattern developed quickly:

Apparently, I'm into monsters! While it's hard to pin down a single favorite, it seems obvious that the answer to "Why?" these figures are my favorites is that they are all fantastically sculpted and textured monstrosities!

ETA: I assume you're talking people - otherwise, there'd have to be some androids, dragons and animals (can you say Noodles?) in there, too.

My own characters are my favourites.  They all started life as either M4 or genesis and have been transfer utilitied up though the various new generations.  With each transfer, they get modified a little more.  The only thing that may make them look "out of the box" is the skin texture.

My newest favorite is Edward 8, but my older favorites are definitely Michael 6 and Gianni 6. Gianni 6 has such a characteristic face! I also do a lot of playing with morphs and creating my own custom looks on them. I mix up various characters' faces and I tweak the face morphs to fine-tune them. I also mix up the skin textures, swapping them out for another character. Just the skin alone can change the whole look of a character. I write so I like to visualize my characters with the figures I get here.

    P3D Leora HD

I tried DAZ after seeing that figure. She reminded me of someone I knew. That was the start of this expensive hobby.

I only use very few characters straight out of the box.   A fave is isource Andromeda.  The blonde.

Nowadays my usual starting point is Genesis 3 Female (or male) and then dial up things from there.

I've used Karen 7 many times, since she has kind looking face, so she is my goto figure, when I need a mother or a nurse (realistic, non-sexy type) character for my renders.

Dale for Genesis 3 is one character, I usually use without changes.

  • I think almost all of my custom G3F dial spins included a little or a lot of Gia 7 after she hit my library.

I don’t like the base male figures faces...I prefer a different look so I tend to use dials heavily to change the look of my characters away from their intended design.

I guess I get the most use of Michael 8 as a base though. He has a nice body even if I don’t care for his face design.

Genesis 3 Female is my current favorite.  I dont favor and character addons specifically as I dial mix my own characters.

I don't have a favorite, what model I use depends on the character morphs I come across.  The only preference I can give is the Genesis series, only because of the new type of rigging compared to Gen 4 or 3 series, allowing for better posing.  All in all, I use all the models all the time, just depends on my mood on a given day.

G2F is definitely my favorite/work horse.

It easily takes V4 textures and with Gen-X I can use all the V4-morphs as well.

It is the most versatile figure without having to spend an additional hundred dollars or more.

    G3F is a distant second place.  But I don't hate her.  :P

Nothing wrong with monsters or robots. For some on here, those are their favorite figures. I own a lot of them, but I rarely seem to use them myself.

Most of my favorite figures are ones I've dialed up myself, and that colors my taste in the commercial figues.  I usually buy based on how unique the morphs or texture are.

Elijah's nice, but if I had to pick a favorite male figure it's got to be George HD for G3M https://www.daz3d.com/george-hd-for-genesis-3-male-s ; Not only does he have more character than any three other bases put together, have a great set of secondary faces, morphs, poses and hair items, but he's one of the greatest elements for rolling your own figures ever...  Curiously, I'm not as wild about George for G8M... he just doesn't have the same oomph.

Female figure is a LOT harder.  There have been some really amazing characters over the years, and I own hundreds of them... but if I had to restrict it to just the last two generations of product, I'd probably go with either MRL WIllow https://www.daz3d.com/mrl-willow ; or Brooklynn HD for V7 https://www.daz3d.com/brooklyn-hd-for-victoria-7. ; They're both really great bases to start mixxing from as they manage to look quite distinct without any extreme morphs or a lot of obvious moles or other beauty marks,

Same here, although I tend to use V7HD as the basis and then create the figure I want using morph add-ons.

    Cheers,

My favourite hands down has to be Charlotte 8.  I couldn't tell you what it is but I just fell in love with her as soon as I saw her.  That said I do really like all of the core Genesis 8 figures because I think they're all so full of character and each does feel like they have an individual, real personality that does come through in renders.
