Get rid of Interactive licence
So I'm a game developer and I'm in my finals stages of releasing a game when I realised that I cannot release the game because I don't own the interactive licence on the assets. My game is a 3d one combined with a visual novel. For the visual novel part everything is ok, because I understood that If I do the renders and then just use them everything is ok, but my concern is about the 3d where the user moves the player.
My question is : "Is there any way to do so I don't need an interactive licence"?
For example, if I take all the textures and make them look brush painted. I import the models in Maya and there I distort them, and give them a low poly feel it will be ok? Or the Interactive licence will still apply?
Or should I just start modeling on my own and try to make them look similar to what they are looking in the renders?
And also let's say I will buy every asset, but if for example I use Robert which requires Michael 7, do I need to buy interactive licence both for Robert and Michael7 ?

do a 2D game
Well yeah... I also taught about that part, but to change from a 3d game which is almost done to a 2d one would be quite time consuming. I was searching for some easier solutions, but if there isn't most probably I'll have to buy everything
You need to get the license if you want to use the content in a 3D game. Thems the legal rules.
Why can't you buy intractive licenses for the assets that aren't already covered by any existing Game Developer Licenses (which didn't cease to be valid following the switch to per-product lcensing).
It would still apply, as you're using a derivative of the original 3D content.
Yes, you would need the licence for every asset you use.
Well most probably I'll have to buy them, because otherwise I'll loose too much time trying to match the design in the renders. The reason why I was looking for some alternatives it was because I already investead a lot in the game and the money are short right now, but I guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks.
Will the interactive licence will ever drop the price (discount) like in the case of the assets, or it's something fixed?
There was a 20% reduction of many items' interactive licenses during the december sales, so there is sometimes a discount, albeit rarely. Maybe there will be something during March Madness.
Theer have been some discounts, but not comparable to those on the base content and not as often, certainly.
Oh, Thank you very much. I think I'll try to catch some discounts then. Thank you for the info
I'm curious if the interactive license applies to instances where the characters are rendered as 2D game sprites ala old Doom Clones.
No, purely 2D does not require an Interactive License.
