Replacement for Content Cataloger Easy (CCEZ) ?

Hi,
Does anyone know of a good replacement for Content Cataloger Easy (CCEZ)?
It looks like the program is out of development and it crashes frequently on my Windows 10 PC.
I have tons of content that I really like to catalog, so CCEZ was a good choice.
Any alternative software that scans through a given path and catalogs the png files?
Thanks,
Kay

Anyone? I wonder why CCEZ was discontinued. Bummer.
Do you just use an application like Picassa to catalog your content instead?
I've tried that but it doesn't retain the folder structure of the images, so content gets mixed up.
How do you find your poses and expressions for example? Just with the DAZ content browser?
With a lot of content this becomes very tedious.
Tech Help is not really the correct forum for a query like this. You can move your thread to a more suitable location by clicking on the gear icon (next to the star) on your first post, selecting Edit from the drop down and then changing the category on the drop down on the left hand side of that screen. Probably either the DS forum or the Commons.
Fair enough - thanks!
I could maybe throw one together if there is a need for it but I don't recall exactly how it worked.
Well - that would be great!
Basically, you give CCEZ a path to where you want to store the new catalog, a catalog title and the path to the content you'd like to catalog.
It then recursively goes through that content folder an pulls all png thumbnail images it can find. These images are then placed in an html file, along with the path that they are in so that you can locate the content folder and load it into DAZ. That html file is the catalog of the content folder. Super helpful when you are looking for a specific pose or expression for example.
I'll attach a screenshot for reference.
Ok, sounds fairly simple. Not sure what "so that you can locate the content folder and load it into DAZ" means though?
You need to be able to loacte the desired contents in the DAZ Content Library. Otherwise, how would you know where it is stored?
i.E. "E:\DAZ\DAZ Additional Content\Genesis 3\People\Genesis 3 Female\Hair\SWAM\Riona Hair" tells me that this hair asset is in this particular folder "Genesis 3\People\Genesis 3 Female\Hair\SWAM" in the DAZ Content Library.
OK, so all it does is display the path to the content, on the html page? Or does it do something (like browsing to the folder in DS) if you click on an icon on the html page?
Basically, yes. It does let you browse to the folder location, but I don't think that is particularly helpful.
As long as you can see the path were the thumbnail image is stored, you can locate it in the DAZ Content library.
OK, will take a look at it...
Sweet!
Thinking about it, what's the advantage of having such a catalog, compared to the DS library? I mean, you have to browse it and find things there also. How is it organized? Any search options?
I also think fixed html pages (which they are, AFAIR) isn't the best solution, especially if you want to add new content. An SQL database with dynamic display of installed products is much better IMO. But also more complex to make.
I had an idea to create something to help me find products I've installed. I just haven't gotten around to starting it yet.
Since I run all my content through DIM (even from other stores using the CPA- content package assistant here at Daz) I was going to have the program run through and make a list of each item in the runtime\Support folder. It would then store Keywords in an ini file that the user could enter for each product. You would then be able to filter the list by your keywords and see the product image for each item you have installed for say "boots" or "Space Ship" or whatever.
I know you can use the search in your product library, but most times it leaves stuff out because the vendor named a product something weird.
well seeing as the CMS uses Postrge SQL, then It should follow that all the content would be in a SQL database? So, some SQL queries and a tabular report should be possible?
Someone else could probably do that, but I don't know SQL at all
I've been considering that too, but haven't been able to log in, not sure which parameters are needed.
The big advantage is that you have the images of the contents side by side on one page.
If you have dozens of facial expressions for example, and you are looking for a particular expression or maybe a body pose, then it is much much easier to see if you have that expression or not.
You typically don't have a single catalog of all DAZ content, but rather unique catalogs for expressions etc. So when you purchase a new set of expression for example, then you just create a new catalog.
Believe me - this works very well.
I could easily code this in VB myself, but I just don't have the time for it. Recursively looping through a folder/subfolders and copying the png images to the catalog location and creating an html page with the images side by side and the file path as header isn't that difficult.
The problem with CCEZ is that it only recognizes 91x91 png's, and that it has poor error handling when it runs into problem.
No it's fairly simple to make, I just think there are better solutions than html pages for this. I need to write some code for scanning the library anyway, when that's done I'll take a look at the possible solutions.
Sounds good! Thanks and I'm looking forward to what you can come up with.
I'd say this would be helpful to quite a few people here.
Any progress on this?
I am really surprised about the poor asset management in DAZ.
They do like you to purchase plenty of content, but being able to actually see what you've got - well, that's your problem.
I've tried to create an asset catalog with ACDsee today, but the problem is always the 91x91 size of the thumbnails.
With CCEZ, you can at least zoom into the html page to see if a character expression is smiling or crying. With the tiny Content Library thumbnails it is often impossible to tell.
Well - it does look like a house! Sort of. Let's just load it! Oh.. so that is actually a spaceship? Who knew..
Anyway.
I'm working on it. I'm thinking of making a more advanced library manager with other features as well, which can handle multiple libraries, so it will probably take some time and experimenting. But I can add this cataloging feature as the first thing, shouldn't take too long. Will let you know as soon as I got something working.
Sounds good.
For any solution that you come up with, it is important that the thumbnails can be enlarged to clearly make out the contents.
Why DAZ thought that a tiny 91x91 image can adequately represent intricate objects is beyond me.
For this reason I thought that the CCEZ solution with building a web page for the thumbnails that the user can easily zoom into,
was pretty good. You just leave zoom functionality to the displaying application.
Sure.
Maybe to avoid taking up too much space on the screen. Creating resized tooltip icons like I've done here may be a solution:
Well - yes and no. As you can see in my CCEZ sample page I had posted earlier, it is nice to have all expressions enlarged on a single page to quickly pick one that suits.
Same goes for poses and such.
There are plenty of assets where just the thumbnail will suffice, but there's also a lot of content that needs more than that.
I realize that one can go to the product page and screenshot a better product image of the asset, but that is quite a bit of work.
