Clones and Autofitting - I Need Help!

I've tried forum searches and Google searches and can't quite find the information I need.

I need to fit G3 clothing to an existing G2 character.  It appears that this is possible via clones.  I found this product in the store: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-male-for-genesis-2-male-s

How does this work?  I can't quite get an idea from the product description (and the searches I've done) just how the clone process works.  There is a big gap in my Daz experience between M4/V4 and G8 and so this is all truly Greek to me.

Thanks!

  • When you load the Genesis 3 clothing with Genesis 2 selected the AutoFit dialogue will pop up and - with that product installed and as long as the content management system is working - you will see the Genesis 3 Figure listed as a possible source figure for conversion, pick it, pick a type if desired, and click Accept.

Clones are just the shape of the relevant figure for the new figure, and using this it allows the clothes from one figure to be fit to another.

You really don't have to worry about the details, but if you purchase and install the product that you mentioned, it will permit a G2M character to use G3M clothing. Just load the G3M clothing, and then use "Fit To" to fit it to your G2M character. This will popup a box asking you what original figure the clothing was designed for, and in the drop down list presented you should pick "Genesis 3 Male".

  • So I was clearly overthinking the whole thing.  I had a feeling it was going to be something simple.  Thanks so much for your quick and very helpful responses!

By the way there is a user guide that you can read before you buy - find it here: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/23657/start (under the "Additional Details" section).
It shows how to use for autofit and also a couple of other hints.

That was really helpful, and hiding in plain sight no less!  Thanks so much!
