Are there lightning tutorials that are worth buying/watching?

Hello,

I struggle the most when it comes to proper lightning in DAZ3D Iray. Are there any tutorials, payed and free, ones that are any good and that I can learn from?

Thanks

IIRC Dreamlight had some good tutorials on lighting, and expecially on how to stage lighting to get a naturalistic approach from artifical indoor light arrangements with traditional renders.  I've not seen any of his iRay stuff, but it might be worth taking a peek.

Check out SickleYield's tutorials on youtube and DeviantArt.

Edit: This month's render challenge is on lighting, and there are a number of helpful links in the first post!

  • I've got to second Dreamlight's tutorials. I've found them to be excellent.

I think the best way (if your graphic card can handle it) is with iRay interactive on..then you can see in real time. Use watts or lumens. Look up 3 point lighting too. Turn geometry into luminous objects for lighting right where you want it. There are no rules...so slash away
